You're being paranoid. You're more likely to have your credit card info stolen using it at the gas pump, handing it to the waiter in a restaurant, etc.

As long as the browser is displaying the padlock symbol and the web address your entering data into begins with https I would say it is a lot safer than handing your card to a waiter in a restaurant who then disappears with it for a couple of minutes and then comes back and asks you for a sample of your signature.
There is no anti-virus software for the iPad as there are no viruses for the iPad or iPhone.
