Go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Informations > in the System Profiler click on "Bluetooth".
There you'll see if the bluetooth adapter is recognized or not. The Bluetooth in the network section is just for surfing mobile with your MBP.
You can also have a look in System Preferences > Bluetooth for adding/managing bluetooth devices etc.
Thanks, went to all that you described, nothing anywhere about Bluetooth.
Is this really possible? I don't have bluetooth in this thing???
In the 'Preference Panes" the bluetooth is listed as version 2.1.8 and suppported by apple but the "Visible" is set to "No". I can't change it to yes, so can you tell me what that means?
There are only 3 "no" answers in the whole list....Bluetooth, Ink and Fibre Channel.
Can you advise?
Thanks, after searching everything in the hardware section I see 'bluetooth' but clicking on it says no information. Then I read some posts on getting it installed in the pro. So I decided to go to the Apple Store figuring that that's where I could get the fastest answers either way. Either something went 'awry' or it was never installed and I need to pay for it. In any case, I'm sure I can get it fixed.
Thanks to all that replied to help.
The bluetooth section in the system profiler is always visible, also when the bluetooth card isn't recognized! Just the info when you click on it will change!
You can give it a try by resetting the SMC.
