Hi

Didn't find any info on this. I want to use iphoto to manage the pictures of 2 different iphones, to have them separated.. Is that possible or everything goes on the same "folder"?

thanks!

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Use keywords to tag them differently on import.

    Two tags: MyPhone and YourPhone

    Two Smart Albums:

File -> New -> Smart Album

    Keyword -> is -> MyPhone

Will get all of mine. Another will find the others.

If you really want separate Libraries...

Create a new Accounf for the other person on your Mac

Or make a second Library: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

    Terence,

    hope you are well.

I am having the same issue. And im not sure how to apply tags on import??

I would like to be able to import my photos and my partners photos to iphoto but be able to have smart albums that they neatly slot into on import, however as they are both iphone 4s - they would naturally fall into the same folder - how can i stop this so they naturally go into seperate smart folders??????

Im used to using the smart albums (using ipad, ipod and iphone and different cameras) but just not with the same device.

Any help would be great thank you.

    Best wishes

    Kris

I have just managed to do it AFTER import,

so i have imported them, which adds them to MY iphone smart album (which i dont want) then I added the keyword, which then copies them to the correct folder BUT they still stay in MY iphone smart album!!!!!!!!

    Any ideas?????????????

so is there no way for iphoto to recognise the 2 different iphones and then import to seperate smart albums straight away?

Sorry if im being dense, only i have tried the way you say, i was just trying to find out if it recignises iphones like different cameras??

    Thanks for the advice though.

i was just trying to find out if it recignises iphones like different cameras??

It recognises different models of cameras, and it recognises different models of iPhone. But i won't tell two Nikon D5000 from each other, neither will it tell two iPhone 5s from each other.

So yes, it recognises different iPhones like different cameras.

    thanks Terence,

so im assuming from what your saying that i cant just plug the 2nd iphone in and when i click import the images wont automatically, go to a seperate smart album for that iphone 4s rather than my smart album for my iphone 4s!!!!!!!  I would have to attach keywords AFTER import.

Oh well back to the drawing board.

    thanks

    Exactly.

A smart album isn't a place, so there's nothing going anywhere. It is an list - that answers an instruction. In this case, show me all the photos from an iPhoto 4s. Unless you keyword, there is no way to tell one 4s from another. Larry has told you how to do that using the 'Last Import' Smart Search. Command-a select all, apply the keyword. Job done in 15 seconds.
