Q: Would it be reckless to proceed with a FCSrvr installation?
We've been researching and testing FCSrvr for the last few months but held off on installing to see how things would unfold. Now that we have arrived at where we are I'm still very much of the mind that FCSrvr still ticks all the boxes and will for the forseeable future. We won't be upgrading until we see how things turn out (which could take anything up to a year I'd imagine), though I'd imagine we will do a couple of installations in the mean time.
Would it be foolish to proceed with the installation of a solution I'm very comfortable with in terms of what it can do and how to use it but has been dicontinued? My hope would be that bridging solutions will be developed that would allow the extraction of data or integration with other solutions. In the meantime we would have a world class and very much needed Media Asset Management system we are comfortbale with and which integrates very well with our workflow.
I'd be really interested to hear what others think about this.
