Hi Guys ! I would really need some help ! I have a sony HDR-CX130 handycam wich films AVCHD. For starters when I plug it in to my mac FCP X cannot find the camera. Well then I figured I should convert the files to h.264 HD video to get FCP X to accept the files. So I purchased the Brosoft MTS converter and converted my files. Great FCP X accepted my videos !

Then I had lots of fun editing until I wanted to post them on facebook and youtube. I exported my video on "current settings" at first but discovered the file was HUGE couldn't use that one because I can't post them on facebook. And also it took something like 30 minutes. So then I looked it up on the internet. Some guy said you should export to h.264 if you're going to upload a video on facebook. Well i did that took like 20 minutes. And the file was only 214 MB. Then I uploaded it on Youtube and when it was done the quality of the video and sound was crap.

So what should i do ? All I want to do is film, then edit with FCP X and finally share videos on Facebook and youtube. I'm quite dissapointed if it's not going to work since I just worked for three weeks to get money to but FCP X. If someone could please help i would be gratefull !

How are you connecting your camera? I know a lot of Sonys need to be in USB or PC Mode. FCP X should have no trouble importing AVCHD directly.  Works with my Panasonic all the time.  The upload to youtube from FCP X takes way long.  Export as Quicktime.  Then upload from Quicktime Player  or better yet save up another few weeks and get an Elgato H264 encoder.  It converts and uploads to YouTube super fast. Or use YouTubes page loader.

I've had good results publishing to Youtube directly from FCPX in the "Share | Youtube" menu. You can select the quality, so you don't have to do an expensive render at full HD if you don't need to. It's also nice that FCPX remembers the description, tags etc. for YT so that you don't have to re-enter anything if you want to upload a second version.

I did have one instance where it took 15 minutes to publish a 10 minute video, which seemed overly long to me, usually my vids are shorter but the publishing time is minutes... I haven't figured out yet why this happened.

I've also had no problems using Share > Youtube  or  Share > Facebook.  The movies look and sound fine.

One thing to keep in mind is that YT & FB have limits for the files.   On YT it's 15 minutes and 2 GB.  On FB, it's 2 minutes and 100MB.

CEDU! Im having the same problem, I like to think I know what Im doing when it comes to the fcp x program; and have even taken a few classes on it, but my upload to youtube is ridiculously slow... like 45 minutes for a 4 minute video kind of slow... I have a 2011 21.5''  imac with upgrades to the inside like that of the 27'' .. I do the youtube share and it sits there processing for a good 45 minutes.. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIGURED IT OUT!!!

whats sad is I actually started saving all my projects as a .mov and then opening them in imovie to use its uploader which does it in betweein 5 and 15 minutes depending on length .. pretty bad when imovie is running better than his new big brother
