There is a m4a file on my desktop and I cannot delete it. Any ideas?
Control click on it, select move to Trash and empty Trash.
Thanks for the response but I have tried that several times and it gives me that message that it can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted.
Hi Karen - Click on the file and use ⌘i to get info on it - make sure you have read and write permissions for it and that it is unlocked.
I've actually done that too but it won't let me get info on it.
OK, have you gone to iTunes and tried to delete it there? How did it get onto your computer? Was it something you downloaded, and if so, where from?
I have tried to delete it in itunes and it worked when I deleted off itunes but it just won't delete off my desktop. I actually downloaded the song from a CD.
Can you move it to the Trash or does it just sit there? If you have Onyx, try having it secure delete the file or download Force Empty Trash. Otherwise, Google for AppZapper, download it and drop the file in it.
I had the same problem. I couldn't get info on the file either, however simply restarting fixed the problem.
I also have the same issue..have you figured out how to remove the file yet?
