When I try to install Safari 5.0.5, I get a message stating that it works only with OS X 10.6.7. Is there a way to install a compatible version of Safari?

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Yes it is in 10.6.8. Is there any reason why you don't want to update to 10.6.8?

I think something is going on with the OS 10.6.8 update and Safari cookies. After I installed OS 10.6.8 when I try to log off Hotmail I get an error message from Windows Live that says that it couldn't sign me out because my browser is blocking cookies. I do have the Preferences set to always accept cookies. If I turn on Private Browsing on, the sign off works normally. Firefox works normally with 10.6.8. I have seen several other threads that are reporting cookie related problems after the 10.6.8 update. I have tried a number of fixes: Repair Permissions, Reset Safari, delete Cookies folder, etc, but none fix the problem. When I boot off a hard drive with OS 10.6.7 that I cloned before the 10.6.8 update everything works normally.

    Any suggestions?

This is not your thread. Start a new thread.  The problem in this thread is solved. Thank you
