Q: No audio with HDMI

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 15" and when I plug into my TV there is no sound. I got the video plug and hdmi adapter through the apple store. The exact same setup works fine on my wife's 13" computer, but for some reason when I plug it into mine there is no hdmi option in my sound preferences. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

You have to select HDMI in System Preferences > Sound > Output.

You also need a Mini Display to HDMI cable that supports Audio.

Thanks AusiDJ. As I mentioned, my sound prefs don't show HDMI as an option. The mini display to HDMI does support audio because it works fine on my wife's laptop. She has the same laptop in 13" and mine is the 15". They both use the same OS and are both brand new Mac Book Pros with Thunderbolt. The only difference is when I plug the 13" to my TV my sound prefs show HDMI as an option and I can listen through my TV speakers. On my computer, using the exact same setup, I don't have that option.
