Q: Apple TV - Netflix Streaming issue

I am having problems streaming Netflix on my Apple TV2 since Monday. I had the problem on Sat. night and later on Sunday I updated the software as there was a message about an update and then was able to watch a movie on Sunday night. However the problem reocurred on Monday and since then not gone away. Is anyone else facing a similar situation? and better still does anyone have a solution to this problem? Apple TV support any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Netflix was back this morning when I checked. I think Netflix is entitled to a few problems -- and they have a had many on Apple TV.

But -- for me, Netflix is why I own an Apple TV.  Apple TV has a wonderful interface with Netflix.  I am an Apple fan from day 1, but to me, Apple TV's number one draw is Netflix.

Mine has been having issues as well, I have two iPhone 4's, an iPad 1, an iPad2, 2 AppleTV's (both 2nd Gen) and a Mac Mini (as well as a PC) -- can get to Netflix no problem on ONE of the Apple TV's, but not the main one in the living room, as well as my iPad2, but not iPad 1 or any phones.  Very frustrating.... But trying to chill, it's 'just' TV, right?

Get better Netfix service on my Vizio blue ray /wireless  player than my ATV2,go figure.   Only get one rebuffering on blue ray and then show finishes ok , while I get multiple buffering on ATV2.. Other features ATV2 ; photo streaming, etc work fine.

I'm getting the "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later." message for almost a week now. Time to complain to Apple.

About what? If it was purely isolated to this device then that would be valid but it's not. Contact Netflix first.

ATV2 is unable to play netflix, getting msg (An error occurred loading this content. try again later)

This is constant today, I've powered down the unit, logged out and in, switched servers and I am still unable to play netflix shows.

Now before anyone asks, I have logged into netflix with my Xbox360/Wii/PS3 and was able to watch movies, and even on my PC's as well as my iPhone and tried my daughters iPod, all worked.

So it's unclear what is going on now.

    Anyone have this problem ?

This is by far the most common issue I have seen with ATV, a constant problem hooking up to netflix while all other devices have no issue.  The most common solution is to unplug the ATV since it does not have an (off switch) wait about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.  Now let it go thru its boot up process and try again to connect with Netflix.

Usually this works on the first try,but I have had to do it more than once before to get it to work.

Don't forget to complain to apple with the proper online form so they know this is a real issue.

    Good Luck

    Thanks Ozzie,

I will try the power down again, but leave it unplugged longer, I had already did the unplug with no luck,

so maybe the key is to leaving it unplugged for a longer amount of time

Update : I left the ATV2 unplugged for 1 minute and that resolved the issue, Ozzie had suggested 30seconds, which more then likely would have fixed it, but on the safe side I left it unplugged for 60seconds.

Glad it worked, this leads me to beleive that it is an ATV issue, but as of now no fix despite the complaints.

Just keep the complaints going till they get the message.

It may be, but the issues don't seem to be so isolated so it's hard to know. I would provide feedback to both.

Same issues. Netflix does not play well through Apple tv. I think it's clearly and issue between Apple and Netflix. Since Apple sells many of the same video content Netflix sells, Apple does not really want Netflix working well on their device. It's too bad the great folks at Apple do not understand the value of giving some things away - like Netflix access. Although I'm a huge Apple fan and only own Apple products, I'm just about ready to dump my Apple TV box because of the Netflix issues. I'd rather Apple not offer Netflix on their Apple tv than have it work sometimes and not others. Looks like I will have to return to running Netflix through my Wii....unless they start competing with Apple in some way and get blocked out. This is not just an Apple issues. Virtually every large digital content/hardware corporation is trying to lock us into their houses and family.
