Jul 20, 2011 4:40 PM in response to bdobsonby samdale67,Experiencing the same problem here on a MacBook Pro 13" mid-2009. Control for keyboard illumination not working. Have restarted to no avail. Confirming that keyboard light is staying on all the time regardless of ambient light level.

Jul 20, 2011 4:39 PM in response to bdobsonby gowthamfromde,Same here. The illumination just doesnt go away. Restart dint help. Even if i am in good light, its on. Any key pressed or any action on trackpad activates the light. For now i have set the timer to 5 sec. Hope we get a fix soon. Its just a waste of battery power.

Jul 21, 2011 1:34 AM in response to bdobsonby sebrock,Early 2011, same problem. It is beyond me how this could slip through Apples testing/QA. I mean, it's really really visible...

Jul 21, 2011 6:02 AM in response to alabamageishaby SnackFood,I would recomend reseting the SMC. I looked into resetting pram/nvram but they did not control the issues..
Take a look at this KB http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964 the smc directly controls keyboard illumination.
I hope this works for you.

Jul 21, 2011 6:33 AM in response to bdobsonby samdale67,Have we overlooked one solution, which is to use the keyboard backlight level function keys, F5/F6, to take illumination level down to zero light? That seems to work for me.

Jul 21, 2011 6:49 AM in response to bdobsonby gowthamfromde,Yeah I have dimmed it completely. It's the best workaround but we still have the issue. Working with apple support. SMC reset wouldn't help. They are researching this issue. Could very well be the default behavior with Lion. And they did say it varies from year and model of your MBP

Jul 23, 2011 10:25 AM in response to bdobsonby joshyk,I am having the same problem. MBP 13 - Mid 2010. The work around for now is to use F5 key to dim it completely. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next patch.
