Q: Problem: Bluetooth in OS X Lion

I have a problem.

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed OS X Lion in my Macbook Pro (2009). Everything is OK, except Bluetooth. I don't know the reason, but my computer doesn't recognize Bluetooth integrated in my Macbook Pro. What can i do?

I've done:

- Reset SMC.
- Repair Disk Permissions.
- Reset PRAM with keys (Cmd+Alt+P+R) doesn't work. I don't know the reason.

But the problem remains. I've watched the section "System Information" in About my Mac, and the section "Bluetooth" is "not available", but my computer has bluetooth, in Snow Leopard was worked perfectly. It's really weird.

So please... Someone can I help me with this problem?

Yes. But in "System Preferences" doesn't appear the option "Bluetooth". It's like bluetooth wasn't recognized. I bought a MacBook Pro in July 2009.

Strange -no idea what can be wrong there- seems to me like you should make an appointment at the Genius bar.

You might try trashing the preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restarting.

The Bluetooth module doesn't show in the System Profile. Tranks for your response.

I searched my problem in different sites, and I found out a possible solution. The solution was:

- Run Apple Hardware Test.

I inserted DVD#2 "Applications" that was into the Macbook's box, and during bootup, I held down the key 'D'. The AHT didn't run. I tried with another combination: 'Fn + F2', but the result was the same. Is there another way to run AHT?

I don't know what to do.

if the Bluetooth USB device isn't showing up in the USB Section of the System Profile, your hardware is defective and/or the cable is loose and you should take it to the Apple Store.

I have similar problem with alejandrofromspain and I bought this Mac Book white in december 2009.

My MacBook doesn't recognize magic mouse after wake up from sleep. But I enter the mouse preference just under the pull down menu of blutooth icon on top of the screen, it starts to recognize.

I think this is not a hardware problem, it's software 'Lion' problem

unlikely. if the Bluetooth USB devices isn't showing in the System Profiler, then either the module is disconnected or it is bad and needs replacing.

The problem you are seeing is due to a bug in Lion, I've worked around it by checking the "Allow devices to wake this computer" checkbox in the Advanced panel of the Bluetooth prefs. Try that and see if that works for you too.

like you said my problem and alejandro's is diffrent one.
There is bluetooth in my System Profiler.
And "Allow devices to wake this computer" checkbox in the Advanced panel of the Bluetooth prefs works well, though it is temporary fix
