Q: can't copy files to external HD on lion...

Your hard disk might need a firmware update. I suggest you visit Western Digital's web site and follow their troubleshooting section for the particular model of disk drive you have. If that doesn't help, open a service request with them.

Same problem here, as well with a WD ext. HDD, aparently noticed it just a few minutes before for a SD card. I was not able to copy files there, then suddenly some files worked, others not (all jpg)... Hope this is nothin serious?!

posted a ticket to the WD support as well, lets see if they com up with anything...

Doesn't happen with my two drives, one usb and one firewire, both WD.

tomerfromholon, Sorry to hear that. Have you called Apple tech support to ask for assistance? If not, it is worth a try. All I can tell you is that my Drobo with two Western Digital drives is working fine with Lion as is my Newer Technology RAID, which also has two WD drives in it. I just bought an external Seagate drive yesterday. It too is working fine.

I have same problem, but only with some files. I use Forklift software instead "new" finder http://www.binarynights.com/
