Q: bluetooth problem in Lion OSX

Potential FIX.  My magic mouse was not connecting after my late 2008 macbook (10.7 Lion) would come back from sleep.

I went to bluetooth preferences, removed my bluetooth devices, and repaired them. 

Problem has not recurred.  I hope this works for others.

Enable "Allow devices to wake this computer" in the Advanced pane of the Bluetooth prefs and see if that fixes it

You are not alone. My Magic Mouse always worked flawlessly with Snow Leopard, but since Lion it doesn't work anymore when the MBP (unibody, late 2008) resumes after sleep. I have set the 'allow bluetooth devices to wake up the computer' set to disabled, because I don't want to wake up the computer everytimes someone touches the mouse.

I have already tried to remove and reconnect the mouse in the bluetooth settings, but it doesn't make a difference. I now have set the option to allow the mouse to wake up the computer to see if this fixes the problem. Hope Apple fixes this issue, because I would really like to keep this setting off.

the computer should wake ONLY when the mouse is clicked, not touched. but yes, I understand why you'd want to turn this option off. let me know if it works for you too! I'm gathering the data to send to Apple on the bug I've already submitted.

Setting the 'allow computer to wake up by bluetooth devices' does not make a difference. I now removed the mouse from my bluetooth settings and added it via the 'mouse' control panel. Hope it helps (but I don't think so).

bummer. when the computer wakes up and the bluetooth device is not functional, launch Activity Monitor and see if "blued" is running. then, see if everything starts working again if you turn BT off and on from the menu extra.

It seems that 'blued' is not running anymore when the mouse stopped working. When I switched off bluetooth, then the 'blued' was started again, but the mouse didn't work until I enabled bluetooth again. It seems that the bluetooth daemon is stopping for some reason. When I filter my console logging for the bluetooth daemon, I see different process identifiers, so the daemon is restarting sometimes (probably when I change the bluetooth setting, when the mouse doesn't work anymore).

This is beginning to seem to be more than a specific mouse/or user problem.  There are several on-going discussions about BT problems now that users have installed Lion.  When they worked I could wake from sleep, but after a reboot both my mouse and keyboard are dead ( I'm typing this on my MBP).  I've tried three mouses; a two-year old Apple, a Logitech and an Interlink, with no success.

With difficulty, I can get the mouse connected, but the keyboard will no longer connect.  Twice I have gotten the numerical code to type in, but neither time was it accepted.  Somtimes I get a "connected" indication and then it instantly goes away.

With what I (think) I know, something like what Rdk_1973 is saying makes sense to me.

As noted in another thread, I'm having the same problem.  Bluetooth connectivity seems to be a problem under 10.7; my mouse loses and regains the connection intemittently; scrolling, even moving the mouse across the screen, is an ongoing problem.  I've had to resort (horrors!) to reattaching a wired mouse to the computer.

This is the situation with my Magic Mouse, my Magic Trackpad (which isn't even pairing with my computer under Lion), and my wireless keyboard.

Apple, if you're listening, there are a number of us with this challenge.  Please help us find a solution.

same on me randomly my mouse is disconnect (checked batteries) and i can't get it back until i restart my mac !!

Same here (Mac Mini Server 2011). It's sometimes even difficult to connect a wireless keyboard.

I'm good now, but I should point out that I had the same random disconnects under SL.  There certainly may be a problem under Lion, but the solution of powering off, and then pressing the power button on the keyboard for 10 seconds upon reboot worked for me.

There are other threads that discuss this.  It seems thst there is a (temporary) probem with the blue tooth module. Once it is reset, all is well.

I thought originally that it was a bug in 10.7.  Although it still could be, I think now that seems unlikely since there were so many Apple coders plus all the people working on developer seeds tjhat a generic boot-up/sleep problem with blue tooth wouild have surely been obvious.  Any number of people would have powered off/slept their computers out of habit, security, transporting laptops, etc, that it's got to be an individual problem.

But admittedly, I still don't understand why I was good initially with a clean install, then had a kernel panic, then screwed, then fixed.

I'm sorry that I can't find, or give credit, to the individual that had the fix, but it's on these boards somewhere under BT keyboard/mouse problems.
