Q: Using Apple-ID in Ichat (AIM)

Hi Guys,

It says here http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37 that an Apple-ID can be used for ichat.

Should I be able to use this account as AIM login in ichat?

Tried it, won't let me login. Ichat keeps prompting me for a password.

The reason for trying this on my apple ID is that the enrollment in AIM (get a free screen name) doesn't seem to accept non-US zip-codes.

After trying I get a webpage with a 420 error saying I can try again after 24 hours.

Thanks for your assistance,

Melvin

    Hi,

The Apple IDs from MobileMe and ones ending in @mac.com are also valid AIM Screen Names.

Any other Apple ID  may not be an Valid AIM name unless your registered it at AIM.

In addition to that the Mobileme and @mac.com names must have a password that  is 16 characters or Less to work with the AIM servers.

I have not tried the new style AIM Registration page but in the pst it has accepted Post/Zip Codes form else where  (I think I had to change the Country bit first back then - but it was all on one page then)
