Jul 30, 2011 12:09 PM in response to tilky100by Momeh,★HelpfulI had the same problem. I was about shipping my phone to Apple when I decided to google the solution... I pressed Home+Sleep buttons (as recommended here) without connecting the phone to the computer. It worked! Thank you all!!!

Aug 23, 2011 9:42 PM in response to MLovellby priscillafromafton,★HelpfulThe same thing happened to me. Working fine and then won't turn on or charge. Holding in home and sleep buttons rescued it. Anybody from Apple know what is going on?? Seems bad???

Aug 30, 2011 8:50 AM in response to MLovellby DrLjf,★Helpfulhappened to me for first time. only have phone 2 weeks. must be a problem with the phone because other people are reporting same problem. i plugged it into the computer and held the sleep and return home buttons down simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds and it re-booted. apple needs to know to correct this or i'm going back to blackberry.

Sep 11, 2011 10:13 PM in response to MLovellby JoohanR,I hope it wokred out foe you. After nearly a year of flawless performance my iPhone 4 began to shut itself down with only a charging cable making it start up again. Most of the time the date and clock was set to 01.01.1970. A call to Apple support made me restore it and it worked for teo weeks without a problem. Then in started again and now my warranty period is over. I can't help thinking this might be a software thing because it is remedied for a short period with factory reset. Maybe iOS 5 will solve it.
Regards

Sep 12, 2011 3:03 AM in response to apple1616by DrLjf,Make sure you hold down sleep/off and return to desktop buttons for 15 seconds with phone plugged into computer. May have to try it twice. I suspect it shuts down without notice if you have two many programs open in the background. My phone so far only shut down once; maybe because I get in the habit of shutting down programs when not using them. I suspect if you do not then the phone may get cluttered, overwhelmed and can no longer "think" so it goes into a coma. I may be wrong but Apple hasn't been right yet about delivering a healthy phone.

Oct 8, 2011 4:24 PM in response to kimmykby Lawrence Finch,As stated in the thread that you posted to but obviously didn't read, charge it for 15 minutes using the wall charger or 30 minutes with a computer, then disconnect and hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for up to 15 seconds until an Apple logo appears.
