I am actually seeing this in two brand new 27" display I recently bought from Amazon (and returned). Hence, I will not risk performing anything "guarantee-breaking" procedure, but rather return them.
It's just sad so see Apple seems to have a problem building these otherwise great displays without these sort ot hickups. -

How was Amazon with the return? Did they give you a hard time? Did they pay return shipping?

Amazon (in Germany) was very helpful - they always are.
I wasn't happy with the quality of the product, so they took it back, no problem.

I had the same experience. Amazon is awesome. I told them there was dust under the glass - no problem. They sent me a new monitor with 2-day shipping and without charging my card. They gave me a UPS label and 30 days to return the old one. Very professional, zero cost on my part.

Aug 2, 2011 10:42 AM in response to macprorocksby Ron,Is the glass retained with a magnetic strip to the main body and one simply needs to overcome the energy of the strip when puling it off . . . ? Anyway, how difficult? Thanks.

Aug 22, 2011 8:47 PM in response to Ronby macprorocks,On the 27" iMac it is, however the glass is not tempered. It is easy to chip/break the glass.
