If you are running your system on a MacPro...simply get another bare SATA drive, put that into one of the slots and install the new OS on that. And if things don't work out, you have the old drive to refer to.

Thank you Shane for taking time during these many years to help people. I've been doing this job for 20 years now and saw all the changes. Personally I just bought 2 new spare mac pro, stick to fcp3 and 10.6.7. Everything is very stable and just enough to earn a living for the years to come. I was Apple since 1987 and has used Microsphere with a G3 for many years, alone in town. Don't bother to follow Apple way to more marketing and less pro spirit. I think Sreve Jobs is tired of the pressure shareholders put on the company. There is always an end to something but we must figure out how to continue the route'
