Aug 6, 2011 10:34 AM in response to DazzaGby KVDB,I installed the kextfix on Lion and it runs much smoother now. The animations when going in-to fullscreen and launchpad on 'vanilla' Lion where very slow. With the kext-fix the animations are much smoother now.

Aug 7, 2011 10:40 AM in response to DazzaGby mytwingo,Had the same problem with my iMac for a long time now. I downgraded to Leopard and waited for Lion. But when I installed Lion, I had the same problems again :-((
Thank you for this thread!! It seems, that for me the kextfix works! No more freezes so far on Lion. Cool.
I hope that Apple will fix the problem in an Update for Lion and we don't have to fix it for our own on each Update...

Aug 8, 2011 10:28 AM in response to DazzaGby johnckendall,I'd like to add another bit of data to this saga. Mine is still freezing after 30 to 60 minutes of light usage with and without the KEXT hack, running just stock applications (itunes, ical, imail, etc). However, I've left the machine on and running all these applications for the past week but have not touched it. In all that time, it has not frozen. So it appears it can run indefinitely as long as the screen isn't being actively used. This is further evidence that the problem is related to the graphics driver...

Aug 8, 2011 12:30 PM in response to webpotionby jnik,Well, that's the thing, I don't think they're reading these.
Maybe if every time we have a freeze, we submitted a trouble report Apple Support they could consider paying some attention to this thread?

Aug 8, 2011 12:35 PM in response to jnikby johnckendall,I've already submitted a number of them. Whenever the system detects that it went down hard it asks and I send it with some comments...

Aug 9, 2011 6:45 AM in response to DazzaGby richard.s.hall,I just wanted to chime in too. I have a 20" iMac 7,1 and it's display has been randomly locking up for quite some time. I'm trying the kext fix too, since I've tried just about everything else. This really *****. Nice to know I'm not alone. ;-)

Aug 9, 2011 11:30 AM in response to johnckendallby mytwingo,Two days without a freeze! Thank you again for the kextfix! Without this thread I would have probably thrown my iMac out of the window... Lion is working perfect now... Apple, please fix the problem in the next Lion-Update!

Aug 9, 2011 11:34 AM in response to mytwingoby johnckendall,Thanks for the update. But I would like to point out that the kext fix is NOT working for a lot of us. I don't want apple thinking it is no longer a problem!
