Nov 12, 2010 5:28 AM in response to Eliot Eliasby johninsj,That's the facetime registration sms, which (if you were in the UK) would be a silent transaction that happened once.
Have you disabled facetime in settings? That should keep it from trying to activate. -
Nov 12, 2010 12:53 PM in response to johninsjby Quinton Claassen,I am in Ireland and get exactly the same thing happening. Rebooting or resetting the phone does not help. I keep getting the pop-up message and am charged each time. -

Feb 10, 2011 12:50 AM in response to Eliot Eliasby The Meyer's,I have just discovered the same happening to me.
I bought the iPhone4 in South Africa from my SP, reside in South Africa and getting the same issue. Obviously the SA iPhones come from the UK.
Apple, what's the solution to this? I would like to use facetime between office and home, but not if you are going to cost me cash each time!! What's the use of the function if only Apple gets pleasure out of it? -
Aug 8, 2011 1:41 AM in response to Eliot Eliasby chiro79,Hello,
I have a legal unlocked iPhone 4 in Spain and I have the same issue. Every time that I activate or I make a Facetime call to anyone, I get charged with an SMS to UK, that cost me 0,60€ each.
Why my iPhone sends this SMS? As I know, the iPod touch doesn't sends any SMS and Facetime works so... Can Apple do the same on the iPhone 4, activating Facetime without sending an SMS?
Is something that makes me angry!
Thanks.
