Hi

In safari, I used to be able to do three things to clear out: clear history, empty cache, and go into preferences>TAB (I dont remember which)>view cookies, delete all cookies.

I can no longer view cookies. There isn't even a button in my preferences anywhere that says show cookies anymore. It just disappeared.

I tried updating to the most recent version of Safari, as well as resetting safari, but I can't find the cookies button/list anywhere.

Thanks for the help ahead of time!

In the privacy tab of the preferences. To remove cookies click Remove All Website Data.

I am running OS 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1 on my Macbook air. When I go to the privacy tab in Safari preferences I get a large blank square without any of the options mentioned above. Any ideas?

I really don't know what could be causing the problem.  I run 10.7 and use Chrome and Firefox.  From what I have read sometimes Safari extensions cause odd behavior.  Perhaps uninstall any extensions you have in Safari and see if it acts right.  Also try installing the 10.6.8 combo updater again.

I found that quiting Safari with the Extensions tab as the last thing open gave me my Privacy cookies with the next opening of Safari but no Extensions. If I reverse the process I get Extensions but blank Privacy cookies. I tried going to the Apple Genius bar and that was no help - they had no clue.

I did solve it but it was months ago and I tried several things at about the same time. From one person, they suggested look under Apple Logo, System Preferences, Network, Advanced, check DNS tab, click +, enter 208.67.222.222, click +, 208.220.220, click OK, restart. I also went to Safari Preferences, Extensions tab, turn off or completely remove third party extensions. Also possible was go to Autofill and remove all "Other forms", another was to clear cookies under Privacy and cache under Safari but I don't think those helped. Plist prefs is another possibility but something so obvious I thought I would catch sooner. Try Google search for "clickable underline words Safari". Also I remember some company showing up when I clicked on one of the words, something like "adnetworks" so using that as either a Google search or a computer search for hidden files might help. I also think I tried Norton for suspicious files and/or virus search.
