@Sachit.R1 , well success with Microsoft. Yes Lion is having some nasty bugs, but do you really think that the grass is greener on the PC platform? I' m sure not. I can remember when MS released Vista and had also a bug that caused your system to freeze. That wasn't solved in a week either.

Apple should be more open to the customers about such kind of errors and in my opinion they should never depend the release of hardware on a OSX release, like they did with Lion. But going back to PC platform because of this, that's a joke. Already forgot Snow Leopard. You could just downgrade to this very stable OS. But version 0 of a product is always a risk, you know that there are still a lot of bugs in it.

I know its frustrating and I as much as the next person am pretty anoyed that Apple appear to be on the back foot, keeping quiet and trying to keep a low profile.

That said, I think that we are all just letting it get to us too much. Yes there are problems, yes it is a pain in the backside but lets us not forget the problems we have all faced over the years with Windows and the mighty Microsoft.

This is my first Mac and until recently I would not even consider a Mac, however, I bought my 27" iMac with Snow Leopard installed and everything was just fine and dandy. So the point that I'm making is when it was good, it was far better than Windows ever was or has been. Now there are a few teething problems, okay they may be significant but it will get resolved.

I found a 10.7.2 update for developers on the web and it seems to have resolved the issues I was having. That is now that I removed Perian 1.2.3 and reinstalled 1.2.2 (again found on the internet).

This machine is streets ahead of any Windows machine I have ever been near, and there's been a few.

Don't get me wrong, I am just saying that if this is the kind of service apple is gonna provide to their customers I don't think I am going to buy another mac. Also in terms of Windows they have really cleaned up their game, and any criticial bugs are usually fixed within a week. Windows is still terrible but at least they actually respond to their users unlike the attention this thread is gaining from Apple.

They are sitting on all this money. More than the USA has in the treasury. You would think that they would hire some OSX CAPABLE programmers and pay them overtime to patch Lion. They sit there amid all this chaos with the problems of the new iMacs freezing (see my previous posting) or go to this discussion group (any page)https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3194165?start=450&tstart=0   and they sit MUTE!

Dirk jan, I had the same problem with Email Notification Preferences.

If you want to stop email notifications from this topic, you just need to login, open the conversation (in your stuff) and on the top right box "Actions" you can stop email notifications !!

    Hope this can help you.

Same here. Problem keeps randomly occuring with my new iMac. Had more freezes in the last 2 weeks than in the last 5 years with my old Macbook!!!

    I HAVE A FIX!

AppleCare was able to fix this issue for me today and hopefully my work can help some of you out...

In summary - my 27" 2011 iMac would freeze when attempting to play video (either streamed via youtube or Hulu or something or even just an .mp4 with Quicktime). My mouse pointer would still work, but no response and I would have to do a hard reboot.

    THE FIX:

Go to Finder -> Macintosh HD -> Library -> Quicktime.

In that folder I originally had two components:

         Perian.component

         AC3MovieImport.component

Essentially I removed the AC3MovieImport.component, and left the Perian.component. Reboot. (If you don't want to outright delete it - and I don't blame you - just copy it to the desktop for safe keeping)

Even after sleep mode, I have had no issues whatsoever.

The short explaination is that both components do the same thing (Perian is apparently more comprehensive) but they try to do the same function and create issues.

So, give that a try. If it doesn't work then I'm sorry in advance, but it has worked nicely for me and I thank AppleCare for their hard work on this.

Sorry, no cigar with me.  I didn't find either Perian.component nor ac3movieimport.component in my library/quicktime folder.  So, it's back to square one.  Sorry socaleyedoc.  No help.

I do not have those files in that directory/folder.

A search of the HD comes up empty on both.

I wonder where you got them?

    I am on a Lion upgrade, with a sys-restore...

Works great with Sleep turned to Never.

Adding my name to the list.  27inch imac, preloaded with Lion.  It is only now dawning on me, after I read the other posts here that the problem occurs after waking from sleep.  My Library/quicktime folder does not list the components referred to by socaleyedoc.  Can anyone tell me where I can get the OS 7.2 update referred to by others?  In the meantime, I will look for flash update.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Thanks for the info, i just removed the file and hopefully it works.

@Steve Self and @rolandfromalbuquerque I wonder why you guys can't find it.

Instead of manually locating the file what you could do instead is search for it, but when you search for it make sure you include the attribute "system files" and set it to "are included"

** It is in the "/Library/QuickTime/" folder, not your home library.

You'd think every iMac at the Apple Store with Lion installed would be freezing CONSTANTLY as shoppers used them. Right?

I've still yet to experience a freeze after getting the latest (10.3.183) version of flash player. Anyone else?
