sorry but i still blame apple for it. how comes it only happens in Lion and only after your imac comes from sleep mode? i never experienced any problems on snow leopard, nor when my imac is booted after a complete shutdown.

If our Mac computers were cheaper then we wouldn't have such anger towards apple. But Apple charges a premium on their computer to prevent crashes like this. So WHY would I not be mad towards Apple?

Just because Steve Jobs hates Adobe Flash that doesn't mean the entire Mac community has to suffer like this and not be able to enjoy a simple youtube video. Sure I wouldn't mind HTML5 playback on the mac but it's not efficient and not enough creators of that media.

Simply put, this is Apple's fault. The flash standard has been around for some time and seeing Apple not being able to properly use it is just an eyesore.

I completely agree with you xm8, however, I strongly suggest for now that you just disable Sleep mode entirely, and also choose the option "Restart if computer freezes" from the Sys Preferences/Energy Saver panel, because I have been just using my computer without Sleep mode while awaiting the Apple/Adobe update for this problem and I have been able to watch Flash videos without any problem. I'm really confident that the problem only occurs after waking up your computer from Sleep mode. Just set your display to turn off after 1 minute to save energy that way, and then shut down your computer at night, or during the day if you're not going to use it for like 5 hours or more. I am as mad as everyone else, but I think at this point we need to stop ******** and just work around the problem as I've described above.

    Same problem as everyone else.

I'm getting very irrate now as it seems to be becoming more frequent.
    The fault lies with Adobe.

    Same Problem!

This mostly happens when a Youtube Video Starts to play! I also tried to set youtube to only play files using html5 but for some reason youtube is only playing videos using flash!

Not so happy with both companies. Adobe for not releasing a fix for this and Apple for not cooperating to fix this faster.

I've a iMac 27" mid 2011 quad core 3.4ghz i7 with HT / 16GB RAM.  Ironic to have so many cores and so many power to crash with a simple youtube video! Shame on Adobe and Apple!

    Well I would say 50/50

Youtube videos are pretty much the norm, I dont know anyone that does not play youtube videos be it on the youtube site or through posted links and Apple should have cooperated with adobe in making Lion compatible and compliant with Youtube.

Anyway I never had any problems with leopard or snow leopard so it falls mostly on Apple to sort this out.

has anyone else also had Quicktime videos have the same sort of crash on new iMacs where all but the mouse locks up and requires a hard reboot?  I get the crash when playing Flash videos, but can't find many who also get colored lines on local Quicktime movies before the same symptoms ...

I'm a huge Apple fan, that dosent mean support apple for everything. I agree Flash is buggy, but not a s buggy to make a system freeze. it works fine on Windows (it just crashes browser rarely) and all previous OSXs too. It makes clear that Apple hasnt done much test of there OS even on the new Imacs (since the crash happens atleast two-three times a day, which makes it super easy to replicate). Aslo waht about wi-fi issues i end up tuning on and off Airport twice a day to get it connected (no problem with my router since it works fine with my ipad and MBP at the same time) Apple has only very limited hardware configuration to test, and they make horrible mistakes.(think about Windows, they run in millions of configurations)
