Is there any way to reverse the direction of a clip in FCP X? I would like to be able to reverse the direction of a pan. The shoot was done in Europe, so there is no realistic opportunity for a do over.
To be a little more specific, the "Reverse Clip" option is found in the Retime pop-up menu on the toolbar. One can find the Retime option by control-clicking a clip, but strangly, the reverse option isn't there....unless I've completely lost my mind.
I have heard that this "Reverse Clip" option degrades the quality a little bit. Is there a "better" way to play back a clip in reverse? Is this even true? Are there any other options to add the reverse effect? Thanks!
Depends on the media and what you're doing to it. Reversed clips with rolling shutter and/or stabilization can look funky, especially if they're interlaced. For most normal things, like making a zoom out into a zoom in, it works fine.
Hmm, ok. I'm not sure if mine is interlaced. They are straight .mov's from a 5DMk2. they look like they have rendered ok. I used the Optical Flow video Quality option after the retiming as well. I guss I'll see how it looks after export! Thanks for the help Tom!
