Q: Mac OS X Lion Software Update service does not reflect 10.7.1 update

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard server to 10.7.

Everything went ok, and the server tools are installed and working.

Last week, Apple released the 10.7.1 update, but this update is not reflected in the Lion Server's Software Update service.

Every time I start the catalog sync (either in the Server Admin app, or through Terminal), the sync process completes correctly without any errors, but the latest 10.7.1 update is not listed in the available updates.

Did I miss something there ?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Issue still the same. Newer updates are listed in Lion Server's Software Update Service (like iTunes 10.4.1, and Aluminum Keyboard firmware updates), but still no trace of the Mac OS X 10.7.1 update.

I even checked if this update is another version of an existing listed update, but I could not find it anywhere.

Am I the only one to face this issue ?

Same issue here, have a case open with apple and there first solution did not work for me, I'll post it for you to see if it helps you. Software Update Service is only showing 358 Updates, the latest one on 8/31/2011 Digital Camera Raw Compatability Udpate. No 10.7.1 Updates.

Try this as per apple, didn't work for me. Still waiting for a followup:

    1. Stop the Software Update Service

    2. Run the following 3 commands in Terminal:

    sudo -s

    cd /etc/swupd

    mv swupd.conf swupd.conf.old

    3. Start the Software Update Service

It will take a few hours to complete downloadinf the new updates, you can check for completion by launching console and entering swupd, when that disappears it's done

    Additional info:

I followed KBase art HT4771, and made the following changes:

    1. Stopped the Software Update Service and quit Server Admin app

    2. Updated /etc/swupd/swupd.plist to begin hosting OS X Lion software updates by typing the following Terminal command:

    sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c 'add :otherCatalogs:2 string index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog' /etc/swupd/swupd.plist

    3. Updated /etc/swupd/swupd.conf to allow OS X Lion computers to receive updates as follows:

         "RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Darwin/11

         RewriteRule ^/index\.sucatalog$ /index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog"

    became

         "RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Darwin/11

         RewriteRule ^/index\.sucatalog$ /index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog"

After completing this and restarted the Software Update Service, the Server's Software Update Service could find all updates, including Mac OS X 10.7.1 and more Lion updates (Multi-lingual voices, Server Essentials, ... ).

The issue is now that the client computers cannot find the Software Update server, though it is properly connected, regardless the selected catalog in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.

I am now considering to erase all updates from server, delete all config files, and restart service from scratch.

Any other idea before I start the big deletion ?

Note: yes, I tested troubleshooting steps in KBase TS3867, but this did not help.

And the story goes on ...

    1. Backed up and deleted all Software Update Service (SUS) configuration and plist files in

         /etc/swupd

         /var/db/swupd

         /System/Library/LaunchDeamons/com.apple.swupdate.host.plist

         /System/Library/LaunchDeamons/com.apple.swupdate.sync.plist

    2. Stopped SUS

    3. Disabled SUS in Server Admin.app -> Server Name -> Settings tab

    4. Enabled SUS in Server Admin.app -> Server Name -> Settings tab

    5. Configured SUS in Server Admin.app

    6. restarted SUS

After completing this, the client can run Software Update again, but Server does not host Lion-specific updates.

=> back to my start point, same issue.

Note: why did they make this Software Update Service that complicated ?
