If it's an external HD, try repairing it, per #A5 there.

I was kicked off another thread for complaining about this (and yes, I ranted and was very upset -- they did not understand the seriousness of the problem). And although you spared words in your post, I hope you will not go through the utter frustration and loss I'm experiencing. Movies of my father's 90th birthday, along with other irreplaceable photos, were on the now lost drives as Time Machine was on it as well. The TM drive just stopped working (now not even spinning any more) after the Lion install. If a LaCie drive is even connected to my Mac, I can't enter my password. In other words, my Mac won't function. Serious problem. We trusted both Apple and LaCie to prepare for Lion. Apple touts LaCie in its stores, online and brick and mortar. I was asked in the other thread to give Apple feedback -- I have. In the store, no less. And I was told -- by Apple employees -- NOT to buy another LaCie drive until the problem is fixed, "If it ever is."
So where does that leave us? I don't know, but I if I were you, Que, I would not unplug the drive it or turn it off -- nothing. Don't touch it. If your Mac begins not to respond to your password, THEN disconnect it.
I remain loyal to Apple, but Lion was not properly tested. And there is always a price to pay . . . and by the loyal users.

When I've tried to do a Permissions Repair, hoping that would fix the issue, I get the following:
Warning: SUID file system/Library/CoreService/Remote Management/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent has been modified and will not be repaired.

Aug 21, 2011 7:26 AM in response to OceansDaughterby Que717,I got the driver I needed to reinstall (the Lion install'n erases that driver) on the LaCie website. Again though, I am connecting to an eSATA port that I had prev installed on my MacPro. Good luck.

Aug 21, 2011 1:00 PM in response to Que717by OceansDaughter,I've been to the LaCie site, and there are numerous downloads. None of the info is clear cut. I don't see anything that indicates a download is a new driver for a consumer external hard drive.
Also, I just got off the phone with Apple and they said, "Well, Lion's only a month old -- LaCie is still trying to figure out what to do." I laughed -- "Well, then with all the hype you give the Porche drive, shouldn't' you two have worked this out in the months and months prior to Lion's release??"
It seems Porcshe drives that are used as Time Machine back-ups are having the (major) problem.

which includes the very warning you site - "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent has been modified and will not be repaired" - in its list of messages one can ignore.
Regardless of that, which LaCie HD are we talking about here? Have either of you had any further contact with LaCie? I have always found them to be very helpful in solving problems.

Aug 26, 2011 8:57 PM in response to Mrs Hby rezafromculver city,It was a LaCie Rikiki 1TB model. Tried contacting LaCie and their support line was unreachable and their website is just a mess and confusing when it comes to addressing this new issue.
Just stopped by the Apple store and they fixed it for me.
That's why we all love Apple. No matter if the HD was purchased from them or not, they spent over half hour researching and fixing the issue!

I am anxious to hear how your drive was "fixed" for Lion at the Apple store. Please share what they did for you.
When you originally set up your HD, did you zero it out, and format it with Disk Utility?
Do you use LaCie's software - or SuperDuper (or something else) for backups?

I'm holding off on upgrading to Lion until I hear the LaCie drives are working with it, have heard some bad things. I use a 1TB LaCie d2 quadra for Time Machine backups. I did reformat the drive when it was new and did not instal the software that came with the drive. Just trying to find out if this hard drive will cause problems for me when I upgrade.
