I'm having the same problem. If i go into my keychain, all of the passwords are still there; it just seems like Safari doesn't recongnise the anymore? I tried deleteing them, re-creating them, etc. For some reason it just won't atomatically ask to put in my passords anymore. Please help!

Hi, I had the same problem but managed to fix is quite simply... seems to be a tiny bug.
All I did was go into Safari Preferences > AutoFill Tab
Obviously there will be some of the 3 options ticked but if you just click Edit and then Done it seems to re-link the keychains and works now for me.
Hope this works for you guys too.

I went ahead and tried that a few times, with no luck. For some reason my keychains still don't seem to work.

I did the Auto-Fill thing (I didn't before BTW), but then I had to enter my password multiple times. I do not want always, and I want Keychain to prompt my keychain password before the info is filled. But having to enter my password 3x or more for no apparent reason is a pain.

I have the same problem, updated to Lion, attempted to access the internet from a Wi-Fi spot I had been using for a long time and it would not connect. Redid the network access and tried to open keychain to get the network password and it just brings up a box that says it might not be working with this version of Mac OS X... how do I fix it?

Last Friday I bought my first macbook pro; Lion was already installed. This of course means I had no previous keychain file to migrate and no initial entries in the existing keychain file. A few days after using mail, the keychain message would appear asking to enter password. If I also had Safari open, entering the keychain password and clicking OK resulted in Mail not responding no matter what was done (also the Keychain password box remained on screen). Attempting to force quit from the Apple menu was not possible as it was also froze. In both instances I had to shutdown the Mac by holding the power on/off down button down until it shut off the laptop (attempteing to restart did not work because it kept telling it could not restart because Mail needed to be exited).
After the restart completed, I reset my keychain file (no content of concern there), opened mail, entered the passwords, and so far (fingers crossed) it seems fine.
Apple: in my case nothing I did caused this problem. This is clearly a bug to me. Googling this problem shows users with keychain problems dating back many, many years. Certainly countless users have had serveral types of problems with the keychain. Please investigate and correct these problems. Thank-you

Seriously, what is wrong with keychain in Lion??
Every single freaking day I have multiple apps asking me to reenter passwords. I tell them every time to remember the password, and then eventually it just asks me for it again. Am I seriously expected to remember the 50 million passwords I need for everything now? What's up Apple? Why is your keychain broken in Lion?

updated yesterday to lion and had the same problem with keychain not doing anything (although all the informations are still there) - i just tried the trick hussainx suggested and it works in parts: now keychain works with some homepages/log-ins - but not with all?
i think it´s just a small problem (at least you can look up passwords you don´t remember), but it would be fine if keychain could work again with all it´s functions and complete all forms and log-ins (and not just a part of them) - that´s the sense of keychain, isn´t it?

Hussainx's solution doesn't work for me, as my problem isn't with Safari. Mail doesn't remember my passwords anymore. Adium doesn't remember my passwords anymore. Microsoft Document Connection doesn't remember my passwords anymore. The list goes on... keychain is about much more than Safari - and there is no point to it if it's not going to remember and serve up passwords

I've had this problem twice since upgrading to Lion last week. I've had a mac for years and have hardly ever experienced system crashes - but now 2 in 2 days. My keychain's got a lot in in but I'll try resetting it if it happens again.
Please reply if you have an answer to this.

Since I reset my keychain, I have not had this happen again.

Since updating to lion, my keychain pops up everyday almost requiring me to reinput all my passwords. it's not much of a keychain any more. I never knew it was there before. Not happy

I left a message previously saying that Hussainx's solution wouldn't work for me because my problem wasn't in Safari. Well, I was desperate, so I tried it anyway. I still don't use Safari, ever, but this solution seems to have cleared up my keychain problems throughout OS X. My Adium works again, mail works again, everything that used to be a problem is working again. If you're also having this problem, before you reset your entire keychain and lose all your passwords, try relinking it in Safari as Hussainx suggested above.
