Aug 31, 2011 4:59 AM in response to joostvandersluisby DJRumpy,Sounds like in your case it's just not detecting your TV properly. Try setting it to a 1080P resoltuion via an external monitor prior to hooking it up to the TV, or just remove into it using the VNC method I posted above and change the resolution while it's connected (i.e. 1920 x 1080).

Aug 31, 2011 5:02 AM in response to DJRumpyby joostvandersluis,I already tried setting it to 1080p (and various other resolutions) using another monitor.
When plugging the mac mini back to my Philips tv, everything goes black again.

Aug 31, 2011 5:11 AM in response to joostvandersluisby DJRumpy,Did you also try the tweak mentioned earlier to disable HDMI 1.3 via SwitchResX? It seems there are also some that have success going that route.
Let me see if I can find the original post and poster.
Edit: Here it is. Posted by Samoel
Now that you've got desktop access the affected computer and it's connected to the tv:
- Download and install SwitchResX (10 day demo, google it)
- Start SwitchResX, select your TV on the left side:
- Click - Disable HDMI 1.3a (enables more resolutions on HDTV)
- Click - Default Resolution
- set it to 1920 x 1080 @ 50 or 60 hz (or the setting your television can handle or you prefer)
- Close SwitchResX
- reboot and the computer should start displaying on your TV, if not try adjusting the resolution.
There is an non demo free alternative to SwitchResX called DisplayConfigX which i'm in NO WAY SURE works with Lion or even can fix the problem, but it's worth a shot if you want to try something else.

Aug 31, 2011 5:12 AM in response to joostvandersluisby Zbegon,Got my Phillips to work by running software update. 10.7 had issues with mine but 10.7.1 works flawlessly.

Aug 31, 2011 5:18 AM in response to Ratboyby joostvandersluis,@djrumpy - thanks. I'm far from mac pro, so now I just have to find out on how to do VNC
@zbegon - that's good news. Did you have the same problem ( white start up screen, all black after that ) ?
-
Aug 31, 2011 5:24 AM in response to joostvandersluisby Zbegon,Yes I updated to Lion a week early as I am a Developer, it wouldn't display on my Phillips but it would on my Sony 50" in my living room. I talked to apple engineers every other day submitting reports and other info. The update helped me but not everyone, 10.7.2 will be out anytime now and also includes more HDMI support for more models, I'm told.

Aug 31, 2011 5:30 AM in response to Zbegonby joostvandersluis,Sounds good.
Waited with the 10.7.1 upgrade because I read it didn't fix this problem. Gonna try it out.
Will be back with a report on that
thanks

Aug 31, 2011 5:49 AM in response to joostvandersluisby Venturas, page 9, my solution works for philips. There is really no need for 3rd party software. Enjoy

Aug 31, 2011 5:54 AM in response to Venturasby Zbegon,This solution does work, however if you payed for a product it should work without a workaround. I would wait for update 10.7.2 if you can wait. What it fixes now may break something in a newer version.

Aug 31, 2011 6:37 AM in response to joostvandersluisby DJRumpy, joost, to VNC into your Mac, I put some instructions a bit further up..sec and I'll repost:
Just an FYI, the console commands are unecessary. You can enable screen sharing in Preferences. This is for those that don't like using terminal.
You'll need to perform this on the target Mac you want to remote into:
Open Preferences
--> Internet and Wireless
--> Sharing
Click on Screen Sharing. Add the user accounts you want to allow remote screen sharing for.
The rest you can do from any other Mac by remoting into your problem Mac via VNC:
After that, as already mentioned, you can use Finder to connect to the PC, or just use it's VNC address from the finder GO menu: GO --> Connect to Server --> VNC://computername.local
Note: If you don't want to be bothered with being prompted to choose a login under lion or to bump another account off, you can just specify your credentials in the VNC command like so:
vnc://username:password@computername.local/
So in the above example if my username was widget and my password was dohickey and my Mac was called home1 then it would look like this:
vnc://widget:dohickey@home1.local/

Type in the stuff in terminal ( cd system/library/ Etc etc ) and shut down the mac mini after that. Plugged it into the tv and... It works !
Great guys, thanks for this. Appreciate the input here.
