Q: itunes store wont load; bar loads half way then goes blank

For some reason, I cant access the itunes store. The loading bar will only load up to half way, then the page will stay white and the bar will disappear. I used to be able to before, but all of a sudden it just doesnt. I'll post the diagnostics that itunes gave me. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

A:

I got it, so for future reference, here is what i did:

Start --> Programs --> Accessories (Right Click on Command Prompt) --> Run as Administrator

then type in:

netsh winsock reset

whabam! it worked

There are at least 20 threads pertaining to this problem (some from last year, one I saw was from 2006). I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times I am going crazy watchinig status bars. The winsock reset did not work for me either. I have this issue with more than just the store. My iPhone freezes trying to backup just like the store does. It gets about half way, then never moves again. Any other ideas?

That solution didn't work for me. I ended up having to wipe my PC and reinstall Windows 7 from scratch before I got iTunes Store to load again. I hope this doesn't happen again because I don't have time to do this everytime this suddenly breaks.

If the reset didnt work, try Microsoft Fix it 50203. It seems to be the other popular solution.

the reset fixed it for me again (no access to the itunes store after ubdate to 10.5

I'm wondering if we'll have to do this after every update from now on

Thanks Xeta, that worked perfectly for me.

Netsh Winsock reset is worth a try for anyone with this problem. iphone backed up sucessfully after it too.

This doesn't work for everybody.   Case in point:

How many of you use the gaming NICs from Bigfoot Networks like the Killer Xeno Pro and so forth?   You can type: netsh winsock reset   all you want, but when Windows 7 reboots, you get a message box saying the "LSP needs to be reset. Do you want to do this now?"

If you say NO, it will keep popping up and annoying you until you do.   In the meantime iTunes Store loads perfectly. Once you allow that message to reset the LSP, the iTunes Store no longer loads.   I have brought this up with the people at Bigfoot Networks by putting in a trouble ticket...for whatever good it will do.

These NICs are supposed to be fine tuned and tested for online gaming and I've never had an issue with it until now. My iTunes has always loaded just fine with it before iTunes 10.5.   So, maybe it's an issue on Apple's end as well.    I just wanted to post this an let everyone who owns these cards know what I found.
