So my macbook pro is about 2 years old and my old router just stopped working a few months ago, i got a new router all is fine until about just a few weeks ago an now everyday, I get kicked off my wireless network and it is a STRUGGLE to get back on. Often it takes turning the airport on and off a few times, doing network diagnostics a few times. My password hasn't changed or the network name very confusing. today alone this evening it has kicked me off 3 times. Any suggestions?

Try selecting different channels and see if that resolves the issue.

I googled the problem a few times and disabled dpnp on my router (thats what lynksys suggested), on the lynksys website they also say to change the channel, can you go to ANY channel or is there a special channel that residential users are supposed to use?

Any channel. Usually the default is 6. Try channel 9.

Unfortunately this problem is continuing (maybe only getting kicked off once a day or so), Should I see if my wireless card in my macbook needs to be updated or something? My router is new had it for a few months and have never encountered this problem until the past 2 weeks,

I'm also having similar problems on both ethernet via Thunderbolt adapter and wireless. I have the same problem on my employer's network and on my home network, which seems to confirm to me that this is a problem related to my Macbook Pro 15" Retina from mid-2012. What seems to temporarily fix it is when i switch between wifi and ethernet, I get a momentary connection. What is also weird is that this started happening a couple months ago, perhaps this is down to a software update? Help?

Boy, you picked up on an old discussion!

    Nevertheless...

...if you're having problems with both Ethernet and WiFi and both on your home network and on your employer's network, then I would think that it would be time for a trip to your local Apple Store or an AASP. They have network diagnostics whose results can only be deciphered by techs 'in the know'.

    Good luck,

Thanks for the reply Clinton! FYI I did take it to the Apple Store yesterday, they ran the diagnostic check on it, and everything was fine. I made up a story about how the Thunderbolt ports are a bit too loose (they actually are, but it doesn't really impact the operation of them) and they promptly offered to replace my Logic board and possibly the case to remedy the loose ports. I'm hoping that relacement of the Logic board fixes the networking issue since I'm guessing the networking components are on the Logic board, right?
