Do I need a program like MacKeeper to keep my mac operating at top speed?  If I don't, how do I uninstall it?

    Hi 6VW --

Read this thread here - - I think it will help you without the need of erasing & reinstalling.

    Solution

    Close Safari.

    Go to your Applications folder.

Delete the "MacKeeper" file and empty the trash.

To fully remove the program, delete the following files (if they exist):

    /Library/Application Support/MacKeeper

    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plugin.AntiTheft.daemon

    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.AntiVirus

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plist

    ~/Library/Preference/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper.plist

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plugin.Backup.agent

    ~/Library/Caches/com.zeobit.MacKeeper

Where ~ = your home folder.

No. You do NOT need MacKeeper.

In fact if you download MacKeeper and install it on your Mac it will in all likelihood only cause you problems.

Besides you can do the same things it does with OS X for nothing so why even think about paying then for their crummy software.
