How can I disable playlist shuffle on my iPad?

The shuffle icon no longer appears on the page displaying album artwork (repeat - left - and speed - right- are still there); the shuffle icon does not appear on the page displaying the album playlist.

In the Library page, pulling down the playlist reveals a shuffle option, but this has not been selected.

I'm listening to an audiobook, all of the tracks are arranged in order, and yet playback is jumping all over the place.

Thanks.

On my computer's iTunes I change my audiobooks so that 'Remember Playback Position' and 'Skip When Shuffling' are both ticked on their tracks, and I also change their Media Kind to Audiobook (so that they appear on the Books part of my computer's iTunes library) - I also give them track numbers so as to ensure that they are in order. When I then sync them to my iPad they appear as audiobooks in the iPad, the tracks/chapters play in order, and the position that I got to in them is remembered.

Do you give them values in the 'track number' field in their info in iTunes, or just include the track/chapter number in the track/chapter name ? All mine play, and and are listed, in the 'track number' order.

    Select a regular playlist.

    Play a song.

Tap the Album cover at lower left.

Tap the shuffle icon (blue crossed arrows) on the right after the time.

Now go back and play the audiobook and it should play in order.

I don't use playlists so I don't know how they appear/work in the iPod app - have you tried going into a different playlist and seeing if turing off shuffle on that works ?

All my audiobooks appear under Audiobooks in the iPod app (as I set their mediakind to Audiobook prior to syncing), I don't play them via a playlist.
