Michael, I used your solution the day in installed Lion to get InDesign printing. After a few days I trashed the said folders/files.  Not sure when for the folders & files magically reappeared in the Resources folder but InDesign started crashing upon a print command again after several days. I had to removed said folders and files again. They are on my desktop. Is there some Adobe magic that replaces the removed files?

This fix seems to work only temporarily (although I was grateful for that at least). It seems when you restart the problem comes back.

I did the fix and it worked

BUT  then I was unable to access the Adobe PDF ppd when printing a PostScript file.

Another series of googling suggested the need for the 1st file listed = /enen.lproj

    and the ppd reappeared.

Something unknown caused the original problem to return.

I then tried replacing only the Adobe  file from inside  the en  deleted file . This caused all of the original folders to magically return plus the crash.

So then I went back, deleted as told and replaced the /enen.lproj

file again and get back so we can do the postscript files again.

I do not understand what is happening but this seems to be working even after a restart.

Is this something that Apple or Adobe will advise me/us of or am I on my own?

Just place Adobe file (ADPDF9.PDF or ADPDF8.PDF) to

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/

(same folder as these *.lproj folders) and delete from all:

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj (Zh_CN.lproj, Ja.lproj, ko.lpro, Zh_TW.lproj)

And then, when starting Acrobat or Distiller, click NO to repair anything if asked in dialog window.

Works for me. Print dialog OK, printing to PostScript using PPD: Adobe PDF 9.0 (or 8.0).

    Rudo,

By doing this are you able to print a postscript file?

I've been able to print by removing the files, but still cannot make a postscript file to distill.

And I do not like how Export > PDF works with my files.

Would LOVE to be able to create pdf's again!!

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Yes.

As others have suggested in subsequent posts, this is a temporary fix only.  Less than a week later, I am having to trash these files again.  NOT AT ALL HAPPY that I 'upgraded' to Lion.

That's because (I think) Acrobat keeps re-writing the files in question.

On another thread I was told the only real option was to go back to Snow Lepoard. ...But if all it takes is eliminating these files then is the problem really so drastic that an Universal app like CS3 can't be supported? Surely (Apple?) a small patch would fix this.

I too confirm.  Went out a bought 4Gig of ram for my old 2007 iMac, since my MCbookpro with 4Gigs didn't crash while trying to print.  Got the same detail from adobe discussion group.

    I discarded the folders:

To avoid this crash  try this workaround.

remove adobe PDF PPD from the following folders:

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,

Once it works, the print dialog shows up, very fast.  thanks to the community.  The corporate stiffs really don't care about us.  Keep talking.

Tried this and did not fix my problem. FYI, I am not running an upgrade to Lion but am on a new iMac 2.8GHz Core i7 with Lion installed by Apple.

Revised reply: OK, I guess I removed the files from my ~/Library (user library) instead of my /Library (OS library). After removing from /Library I can now print from Indesign. I'll see if not allowing Acrobat to "repair" things will prevent having to remove these files again.

I did remove the mentioned resources, but without effect.

Then I removes the others also except the one for my country (nl.proj) for Netherlands.

Why should you have al these languages?

So... it is working now  <:o)

My only problem/concern was trying to print Illustrator files from an old copy of Adobe CS3 with OSX Mountain Lion on a new intel dual core Mini.  (July 2013)

As recommended, I removed adobe PDF PPD from the following folders:

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,

    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,

It worked for me.  No more crashes when trying to print.
