Q: calendar list

In iCal 5.0, using Lion, the calendar list is empty. When I click on the Calendars button at the upper left, the dropdown pane that shows has nothing in it. I have tried restarting iCal but still nothing. Advice?

    Hi Bob,

    Take a look here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2095

Does the same issue happen in a new user account? What happens after you delete the iCal related preference files?

    Best wishes

    Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

I followed your instructions but the results are disappointing.

The new user showed no problem with the iCal calendar list. So I quit iCal and deleted all the preference files associated with iCal that I found in the Preference Folder. That did not work- the calendar list still did not show. So I tried doing the same thing but this time with a restart after the deletion. No luck.

The rest of the instruction in that document did not seem to apply since they required acces to the calendar list or were not concerning the list recovery itself.

By the way, all my calendar events from all previously selected calendars are showing in the main calendar window, one of them with two repetions. I just can't get to the list to select/deselect.

Is there another way to approach this?

    Best,

    Bob

    Hi Bob,

More information about how your calendars are set up would be helpful. Are you syncing your calendars? If so where to and how?

The next step I would suggest is to quit iCal and remove the Calendar Cache file you will find in ~/Library/Calendars (where ~ is the path to your User's "Home" folder). Then try iCal again.

Let us know how this goes.

    Best wishes

    Hi John,

Removing the Calendar Cache worked! (By the way, in response to your question, I am synching to MobileMe and to Google Calendars, both via CalDav.)

Thank you so much for your help.

    Much appreciation,

    Bob
