Hello there,

I am quite in panic here! well, don't know if there is a reason but here is my case:

I've just made visible the hidden files in Lion to find the famous Library folder using: defaults write AppleShowAllFiles YES, in the Terminal.

When I wanted to hide them back using defaults write AppleShowAllFiles NO i get the following:

defaults[297:707] Could not write domain; exiting

IS that a problem? Did I do something wrong? What do I do now? What does that mean?

Some help will be appreciated... Thanks....

I have found other related threaths (i.e. but none of them have a solution

any ideas???

In the hidden var/root/Library/Preferences folder, search for files: file

and trash them. Quit Finder and restart it.

It sure solved my problem of hiding the files again but now even after restarting the computer many times the files are missing. This is causing 2 really annoying problems.

    • First problem is that whenever i open my account 3 applications(utorrent, itunes and houdini) open up. I tried all the ways listed on the web to solve this but still these applications open up every time.

    • The second problem is that safari never stores and history at all. Everytime i quit safari the history files get deleted. I checked the preferences if there is any problem with my settings but they as the same as before.

Is there any way i can recover the 2 files( and or is there a way with which i can solve the 2 problems?

Any help would be great. Thanks.
