For that matter, neither can Firefox. I can't find anything about PayPal being down or hacked in the news anywhere, but I do get a message (every time) now stating that: "Safari can’t find the server “www.paypal.com"".

What's going on? Anyone know?

Thank you... any info will be greatly appreciated. -- Andy

    Hi,

Go to Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all Paypal related cookies.

Quit Safari (Command + Q) Then relaunch Safari.

    See if that helps.

    Ok..

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty cache.

    Restart your Mac.

To continue this thread...I am having the same experience, and am receiving the message about Safari (and Firefox) being unable to find PayPal. Per the earlier notes, I have removed paypal cookies, emptied the cache, and restarted, but only receive the same message.

    Where has paypal disappeared to?

And an update...a discussion with PayPal tech support indicated that they were not aware of a problem, but they initiated a service inquiry.

I have tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer -- and cannot get to PayPal through any of these browsers.

It's most likely a DNS issue. To fix it, open System Preferences/Network. Click the type of network you are connected by on the left side of that window if it's not already highlighted, click Advanced, click the DNS button, click the plus button under DNS servers and add the following numbers:

    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220

These are the DNS numbers from opendns.com. I helped someone with this problem yesterday and it worked like a charm.

Thanks iBookmaster...I suspect the issue is on PayPal's side as today (for the first time in 2-3 days), I was able to to finally connect to their server.

Weird...I hope they have found a fix.
