Why does app data sync happen in the wrong direction?

I've posted this under iTunes and also the Filemaker community. I'm doing it here also because I really don't know where the fault lies and trying to cover all my bases.

After doing a bunch of work on a Filemaker Go database on my iPad, I did a sync using iTunes. Instead of the iPad copy of the data base being moved to iTunes just the opposite happened. The result was that all my work was wiped out. This is the first time I have noticed this happening. I have done syncs before and after without seeing it. However, I am, to say the least, mistrustful. It makes Filemaker Go almost useless to me. Any ideas?

I do not have this app but I copied this from the Filemaker Go website....

Simply access your FileMaker Pro databases on FileMaker Go for iPhone or FileMaker Go for iPad via File Sharing in iTunes.

You don't actually sync the content as such, you transfer the content via File Sharing. The content is transferred both ways via file sharing - iPad to iTunes and iTunes to iPad. If you haven't been using file sharing that may be the reason why the data was not transferred to, your iTunes library on the computer.

Then I trust that you did send the files to iTunes via file sharing but did so unsuccessfully?

This won't make you feel any better about your situation but I was recently having issues with file sharing on my iPad as well. I don't know what version of iTunes you are running but I had not updated to 10.4.1 even though the update had been out for a few weeks. I was apprehensive because the last time I updated iTunes that was when file sharing "broke" for me.

Anyway, I finally updated iTunes over the weekend, synced my iPad and magically file sharing was working again. Prior to the updating of iTunes, I had "sent my files to iTunes" over and over again and iTunes kept telling me that the files were being sent, but they were not showing in the file sharing window in iTunes. As soon as I updated the problem was fixed.

My point is if you haven't updated to the latest version of iTunes - that might solve the problem. No guarantees but it did work for me.
