Sep 26, 2011 1:31 AM in response to kemcolianby Media Mogul,For everyone having this problem, try these things first: Only connect your laptop when powered by the mains. Plug the HDMI into the TV and into the Mini Displayport adaptor. Then connect to the laptop. If that doesn't work, better results have been known with high quality HDMI cables. The signal to the TV may be too weak. The boosted mains and decent HDMI cable helps it. Beyond this not working, it's back to the copyright protocols of HDMI and the Mac OS. I have had better results with the above formula.

Sep 26, 2011 5:28 AM in response to kemcolianby tenn098,what kind of cable/conventer are you using ? 3rd party ? previously im using 3rd party bought from ebay, china made. then the converter died. bought brand new kanex brand. http://www.kanexlive.com/mdphd10ft
then all the problem solved. maybe it quality problem. after certain time, the converter kaput. i suggest for everyones brings your mac to the nearest apple center, bring all yours existing cable or what so ever and test in front of them, or bought new cable from apple and test it. that what i do. . but then it cost you MONEY

Sep 26, 2011 7:45 AM in response to tenn098by bazokajoe_2k,If you're trying under Windows, can you go into the Nvida Control Panel and let me know what the driver version reads? Also, what MDP -> HDMI adapter are you using?
I am absolutely certain that a significant part of the problem is Mac OS X's drivers. Like I said, on my Spring 2010 15" MBP w/GeForce 330M it absolutely will not output to the television when I'm in OS X. If I reboot into Windows (using Boot Camp) and try, it works perfectly. If the problem has anything to do with weak signals or anything like that, Apple needs to adjust the drivers big time. It's not often that I'll say this, but it's unfortunate that display out is working so much better in Windows 7 than in Mac OS X 10.7.1.

Sep 28, 2011 7:30 PM in response to Ponponheadby Allanprm,Hello all,
I would like to share my experience with the MOSHI Mini DP to HDMI for all those who have problems with it, I have a Macbook pro 13" (early 2010) and some weeks ago I purchased one of those MOSHI adapters which as far as I know is the only one that can send audio and video to your external monitor or HD TV (very cool). Well, unfortunately it also stopped working after some days of use so I made my research on internet as many of you with no luck finding a good solution, I found nothing but a lot of people complaining about this same adapter.
I decided then to make my attempt to fix it with my own hands and when I looked closely to my adapter, I realized that some of the small PINS of the Mini DP connector side of the adapter were completely folded all the way through, this happened because the small plastic pieces that holds all the pins in each side of the connector got damaged so a couple of the pins were loose and consequetly got folded all the way through in one of my attempts to connect it back to my macbook.
Fortunately, I was still on time to apply the warranty so I got a new adapter from the store.
My advise for you is that you should be very careful while connecting it to your Macbook, the MIni DP side is very delicate, specially those small plastic pieces that holds the pins inside the connector. If you notice that your adapter has those pins folded then you are screwed and is time to get a new one.

Oct 10, 2011 8:06 PM in response to tpmccomasby Afghan Vet,I've had a couple people tell me that the mini displayport to HDMI connecter causes the logicboard to overheat and so shorten the MBP's life expectancy. Any truth in this?

Oct 13, 2011 11:19 PM in response to BSteelyby jazbeane,I bought a mini displayport to HDMI cable at MicroCenter about 5 months ago. Unfortunately, I never got around to hooking it up between my MacBook Pro (mid-2009 model) and my Samsung 40" 650 HDTV. When I DID try it tonight, all I get is the wallpaper! Not menu bar across the top, none of the files on the desktop, no Firefox browser, etc. Just wallpaper! Any and all help would be greatly appeciated, and I REALLY hope I don't have to go through that VGA adapter crap! As someone else said, this was an advertised perk for this MacBook Pro model, and I'm seriously bummed that it doesn't work as advertised!

Oct 13, 2011 11:55 PM in response to jazbeaneby afiser, sounds like your cable works, your settings are just set up for an extended display. open something up on your MBP, then try and move it out of the screen (Up Down Left or Right) you should see it come up on your TV.
to make it mirror the image on your MBP, look at this article
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp1321.html

Oct 14, 2011 6:50 AM in response to jazbeaneby frederic1943,You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.
