Q: itunes is using 100 % CPU

Same problem on XP system.

iTunes 10.5 installed. AppleMobileService.exe and iTunes now hogging 100% (50% each) of CPU.

Tried complete de-install of apple software as per previous guidance for same problem with 10.4.

This does not solve the problem with 10.5.

Apple - anwers / software bug fix required please!

I am having the same problem. iTunes is using 50% CPU and the other 50% is split between Apple Push and the Mobile Device Service.  Quitting iTunes will eventually also kill the Push, but the Mobile Device Service continues to take up 50% of CPU until killed (and restarted).

I had this problem with the last update, and was able to do a complete uninstall per the knowledge base.  I tried that again here twice to no avail.  Tried going back to 10.4, but it gave me an error that the library had been created with a newer version.

I guess I'm not going to be on iOS 5 as quickly as I thought. If I can't sync, I can't update.

Anxious for a solution.

I have the same Problem with W7 64Bit.

No Effect after new Install

I'm having the same problem as soon as I opne iTunes. I haven't even tried to play any music yet for fear it'll crash my PC.

You'd think Apple would sort problems before they release updates. Same with the iTunes store problem. Didn't have that after the last update but do now!

Yep, Same problem for me, iTunes 10.5 is maxing out one of my cores

Yea apple decided in 10.5 it will start using 25%-50% of everyones cpu's for cloud computing and trick people into thinking its for push notifications. To solve the issue open task manager, right click on the apple push process and "open file locaton"  First end the process then delete the exe file.

You should also uninstall Bonjour as it is completly useless for most ppl

Your itunes will idle at 1%-3% after this

I don't have the apple push process in the task manager:( All I have is iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Helper.

The fix EJ327 put up didn't work any one else come across a solution yet? Getting annoyed!

I don't like the idea of simply deleting an exe file in explorer.  I'll wait on another fix.

Same problem here...

iTunes, AppleMobileDeviceService and APSdaemon use 100% of CPU.
Deleting the APSdaemon.exe didn't affect the problem...

Had the same problem with iTunes 10.4 but it was solved after reinstalling iTunes.

Didn't help this time...

Exactly my problem, why have apple not fixed this??? I was all excited about the new iOS 5 but at this rate I won't even be able to use it:-(

Unistalled everything as Apple tell me to, re-installed - also as they tell me - and still the same problem: 100% of my CPU on my XP 32 bit

Turned the Apple Mobile Device off, just to be able to run my machine.

Would have been really nice if Apple would read this and try to help us out.

I'm an old PC guy, getting intrigued by the Apple products, but this won't help the transition...

Slimbo49  APSdaemon is apple push service notice the "AP" there , and the fix I posted is for Windows 7 users not xp users and the guy whos afraid do delete the apple push exe enjoy having your cores get raped. Also we are altready 12 hours into Oct 12 and still no ios5 update SCREW YOU APPLE! and R.I.P. Stevey

Same exact problem... This happened with 10.4 as well I believe... iTouch won't sync, itunes store won't connect, and 100% of CPU is claimed as soon as iTunes starts.

Absolutely ridiculous, Apple...
