Sep 12, 2011 1:34 PM in response to dolewhipfloatby katfusion,Just use the solution in the original post. I was having the exact same problems but this fixed it.
Here's the fix:
There is simple solution for that case (forWindows 7, 64):
1. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1
2. Right click
3. Uninstall
4. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2
5. Right click
6. Install
7. Restart Windows

Oct 11, 2011 12:37 AM in response to JerryFromKrakowby Stitchyangel,Still not fixed this for my daughter and she is getting very frustrated that she can't access the iTunes store. Please can someone give me some suggestions. We just keep getting "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" every time we try to uninstall anything to do with iTunes. Does anyone have a simple solution please ( other than stop using iTunes!!!!)?

Oct 12, 2011 10:06 AM in response to JerryFromKrakowby jb@faithpca,This solution works for the previous version of iTunes, but not for iTunes 10.5 (at least for me). I get error messages when I try to open iTunes 10.5 after uninstalling AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1 and reinstalling 1.5.2.
-
Oct 12, 2011 1:23 PM in response to jb@faithpcaby Lucky482,The problem with 10.5 is that it is not compatible with Apple Application Support versions that are earlier than 2.1.5 so these solutions will not work with the previous version of 1.5.2. Do not install this earlier version if you have already downloaded 10.5 as you create more problems for yourself.

Oct 12, 2011 1:47 PM in response to sickydby greg-sv,The new 10.5 also locks up when it starts and tries to go to the iStore. Task manager says is is not responding; I have to kill it with task manager. what a POS! Windows 7, 64bit.

Oct 13, 2011 12:08 PM in response to JerryFromKrakowby mkiitmr2,Figured out my issue!
Background:
Win 7 64 bit
Itunes 10.5 public release
Iphone 4
Symptoms:
Iphone 4 backup/sync hanging
Itunes Store was blank
Fix:
Uninstalled AVG Family Safety (like net nanny, an online website monitoring app for my children)
ran command promt as administrator, typed netsh winsock reset
Rebooted
That fixed boy my backup and itunes store issue. My suggestion is if you have anything like this, Norton Online Security, Net Nanny, AVG Family Safety, Safe Eyes, Covenant Eyes, etc. you should start by uninstalling it and see if it fixes your problems. Hope this helps someone.

Oct 13, 2011 12:09 PM in response to greg-svby Joker666,try this:
Start --> Programs --> Accessories (Right Click on Command Prompt) --> Run as Administrator
then type in:
netsh winsock reset
After this restart - it worked for me perfectly
got it from another thread:

That worked for me also! Using Windows 7 64-bit with Quicktime & iTunes 10.5
