My account was moved from mobileme to icloud just fine, my wife's account is having same issues as in this post.  When I setup her account I never received any popup alerts to setup iphone/mac.  I'm guessing it's still transitioning.  When I try to access icloud via ios5 the settings app crashes.  Guess I will check back in a few hours as I'm sure the servers are getting slammed.

Same issue here. I notice that the prefs only crashes when you type the correct password. Tried to change to a me.com adress from mac.com but prefs on my iPhone changes it back.

Tried logging in as me.com and mac.com with no difference. They should both work anyway. But still... all mail is now gone and iCloud still won't enable Mail.

Additionally, I'm experience iOS issues as described in previous post. iPhone iCloud login screen crashes, and my Mail app crashes when viewing an email.

    Same issues here.

"The iCloud pane in System Preferences says "Starting..." and never finished.

Adding an account in OS X Mail prompts me for the Incoming Mail Server, even though it recognizes it as an iCloud account. Leaving leaving the field empty results in Mail unable to connect to the server.

Clicking on Mail in the iCloud web interface tells me I need to create an @me.com email address by enabling Mail in the iCloud System Preference.

I am using an existing MobileMe account (previously a .Mac account) which is my AppleID."

No working email on Mac & both my iPad & iPhone crash when going to Mail prefs and viewing account details (still receive mail ok on iOS devices)

Looks like its something wrong with the conversion process going from mobile me to iCloud

It came back online, it seems that they were just hammered.  On my iphone, it kept crashing prefs under mail.  What I did to fix it was put the iphone in airplane mode, go to prefs and delete the account.  turn off airplane mode, then add the account back in.  Oddly enough, when I did this my mail program and my Mac started working again.

Hey guys, I think I solved it.  If you are like me, you have a family account.  What I did was I updated my wife's account and converted it to iCloud.  After this, my incoming smtp was filled it, and it started to work.  Hope this helps.

My account was a dot mac which I kept .mac.  Wife's has always been a .me address.

Back online.  I really didn't do anything, just went in again in ios5 and it switched to icloud on it's own.  Apple magic.  I'm betting it's a system backup.

Confirmed now working again for my iPhone and iPad (havnt check my mac yet)

Both iOS devices changed themselves from MobileMe to iCloud accounts in mail preferences in the background at some point and both working ok

Mail app started working for me, too. I had deleted the mail account and turned off the Mail setting in iCloud system prefs. Just now, I turned on Mail in the iCloud system prefs. It spun for a few seconds, then created an iCloud mail account. All my old mail is there.

Mail client is working, but the web mail still tells me I need to set up a @me.com mail address. I'm going to hope that spontaneously fixes itself, too.

Mail app on Mac OSX is back working again - just left it with with empty incoming mail entries etc... came back to it 30 mins later it and it had reconfigured itself automatically and now fully working.

Only thing remaining not working is logging into www.iCloud.com to check email through browser - still reports a @me.com email address is required even though im logged in under my @me account

This looks like its fixing itself as Apple ramps up the iCloud service
