Man it would be nice if this software (which I need to update my phone) would install. I haven't had iTunes install proplerly for almost 2 years now. It simply will not happen. I had though that perhaps with a new version number (11) that perhaps Apple had ironed out this frustration and I could you know, update the media on my phone. Or my phone software for that matter. I've yet to update to iOS 6 even because if it fails for whatever reason using the wireless update I will not have a any way to restore it.

It begins with failing to access regrestry keys during the installiation process then fails to start the services. So after it completes iTunes won't run because none of the services are able to start because the installer cannot access the registry keys during the install process.

I tried the list this time even, one by one remove:

    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Then physcially going and removing any uninstalled folders in program files and (x86) program files

And nada, still no iTunes.  I'm tired of the shotty software.

I had the same issue.  Found a stray "Apple" component file under Programs Files - Common Files - Apple that has some screwy security attached to it.  I uninstalled all the related programs, deleted this folder, emptied my recycle bin, cleaned my registry and then bleached the unused space on my computer.  After a restart I reinstalled Itunes 11.04 and it started up immediately.
