Q: I can't sign into iCloud via windows control panel

When I try to log in, I get an error message reading 'you can't sign in because of a server error'.

I'm no computer whizz and this has got me stumped. I've tried turning off firewall, closing all other programs and restarting the computer with no luck :-/

Any help appreciated,

Thanks, Lucy

    Hi,

I am running into the same issues on my end.

I am putting it down to iCloud server's having issues with Windows Clients or general issues. The othe is Windows Firewall however still haven't found a fix.

I am waiting patiently but it's getting annoying but have to remember it's just come out of Beta so some issues are still going to occur.

I am also having problems logging into the iCloud control panel. I get a message saying my Apple ID is valid but not an iCloud account.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Go to www.icloud.com sign in and it will ask you if you would like to move to iCloud click OK and it will take you through the process

However Apple's server's are under stress and so there is going to be a long wait for them to settle down.

    Hi

I’ve the same problem, but I think it came  from proxy server settings. In fact, I’ve noticed that icloud service try to go out across another port and it don’t ask me user id and password of my proxy. Besides, while the setup, the icloud installer don’t ask me proxy settings of my net.

Know someone any solution to this problem? How do I let recognize the proxy to the installer/program?

    Thanks

    Michele

I was able to sign in to the iCloud control panel on my windows 7 laptop.  However, on my vista desktop I put my id and pw in and hit sign in and it just continues with the busy circle. Is this due to the overload of the servers or is there a setting messed up on my desktop.  I had no problem with mobile me prior to switching.

To solve this problem you can:

    Windows 7

    1) Click on Start
    2) Type cmd and press enter
you will see a new window
    3) type "netsh winsock reset"
    4) restart the machine

    should work.

If still does not work you must disable the firewall and antivirus

Para solucionar este problema debes hacer lo siguiente:

    en Windows 7

    1) click en Inicio
    2) escribe CMD y pulsa enter
te va a aparecer una nueva ventana
    3) escribe "netsh winsock reset"
    4) reinicia la maquina

    deberia de funcionar.

Si aun no funciona debes de deshabilitar el firewall y el antivirus

Tried both of these and neither worked. Seems like this is mostly a problem with 64-bit systems. I also had iTunes problems that seemed to affect only 64-bit systems. I think this is an Apple problem. Any other solutions?

You need to convert it first at iCloud.com. But iCloud.com will only allow you to do it from a Mac or iPhone.

I also am having the same problem. I cloud works fine from the internet and I really like the new features but I cannot get the photo stream to work so I have to enable it through the control panel and that I cannot sign into like you all......
