I've tried that fix numerous times and no dice so I was hoping there was another way because I'm pretty much at the end of my rope.

    Hello Guys,

I received the Developers GM and installed with no issues.
Unsure with the reports but, Possibly re-wiping your phone would be the way to go. i know it requires a little more effort but this could probably be the best way.

After doing a DFU to force iTunes to recognize the iPhone and redownloading the update, now iTunes says Screen shot 2011-10-12 at 8.04.23 PM.jpg

About 95% of users will see this resolved as they try restoring again once the upgrade servers get less loaded.

For those with a phone stuck off, try holding down the power button for several seconds.

If that doesn't work, try holding the power and home button down for several seconds.

Eventually if you get back to the iTunes/cable screen you should be able to restore your device, and if the error seen was the "try again later" message, the restore will actually install iOS 5 and restore your other data.

I would just like to know what GENIUS put out all these updates at one time , i cant beleve Apple could be so STUPID an be caught out by this ?

The overloaded servers causing this error are iPhone-related update servers; the release of 10.7.2 had minimal to no effect on this situation.

In fact, I waited, and udated (after I had tried at least 5 times) my iPhone 4 this morning (8 a.m. Rome time) and it (finally) worked!

The error I am getting I have not seen posted anywhere. When I am attemping to back up my iPhone 4 to start the proccess I get the following error a few minutes in.

"An error occurred while backing up this iPhone (-43)" Would you like to continue with the update of this phone? Continuing will result in a loss of all content on this phone. I have been checking the message boards and haven't seen that -43 error anywhere.

When I tried to update my iPhone at work I got the "inernal error" message several times.  I tried again once I got home and the update worked.  My iPhone is now running iOS5 and it seems to be working normally.

I also have this problem and would dearly like some information on how to fix it.

The answer is that the message was the result of an overload of Apple's upgrade servers at the time you attempted to upgrade to iOS5.  Same thing happened to me, so after reading several posts on this discussion I merely waited until late last evening and tried again, and everything went well.

So a combination of patience and perseverance is the solution in most cases.  If you have other error messages, patience and perseverance may not be the solution.

I haven't found any information about my error.  I already downloaded iOS5, installed on my iPhone 4, verified, but it won't restore my apps, photos, music and settings.  It does restore my contacts and text messages.  I am able to use the phone but I'd prefer the restore to reload my entire backup so have my apps, music, etc. on my phone without having to transfer apps, music, etc. back into my phone.  The error occurs just after the restore load completes.  The error is: an error occurred while restoring this iphone (-35).  I also received this error once with (-1) instead.  I have attempted disabling my firewall, closing and restarting everything, and have the newest updates for all my connected devices.  I have tried to 'restore from backup' 5 times.  No dice.  Guess I'll keep my old back up for now and just add in all my apps, music, photos, etc. the long way.  A friend of mine was having the 3200 error, which does have to do with too much traffic on the servers.  The issue I am having does not seem to be related to the 3200 error.

Don't know if this will help at all.

I have had a lot of the issues listed here a few times when trying to update the OS on my iPhone4.

Usually, if you have installed an updated version of iTunes just before doing the update, many anti-virus software programs have not been updated to work with the newer version.

Because of this, the anti-virus software may cause an issue with iTunes when its trying to complete the OS update ans restore process.

I shut down iTunes, then I shut down my anti-virus software completely, including the firewall. Then I went back to iTunes, and completed the install with no problems.

The apps, photos, music, and settings took a while, but they came back.

    Hope this helps...
