After updating my iphone to the new IOS5 I wanted to try photo stream.  So I updated my Lion software then updated Iphoto to the newest version 9.2.  While it was doing its thing it said it was rebuilding my library. Then when it was done it shows all my events with the same picture as the key photo in every event. Then it said something like iphoto had to quit to do something else and restart. When it restarted it still had same issue. Now I have no pictures that are even viewable. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I do have a back up of my photos on an external drive using time machine. How do I fix this??

I am running Mac OS X (10.7.2) it did not give me this selection in the drop down.

I have the same problem on two Macs (Mini and MacBook Air). The iPhoto app prompted to rebuild the library, there was a bar that ran to the end, and after that, just a ball rolling (I tried to see if it needed time and let it roll for hours, no help). The app isn't frozen, it's just not doing anything (taking less than 3 % of processor load). It is possible to close the app but when reopening, it gives the same prompt and ends with the ball. I tried removing the .plist file with the result that the app opened as if on a new machine, with no library to be found.

Hope someone can help. The photos are there but iPhoto 9.2 just fails with the rebuilding process.
