Aug 21, 2011 3:33 PM in response to gaurakrsnaby StephenCCH,I have been asking about this since Lion Server came out and no one, I guess, knows. I have never had a reply about it. If anyone does know, it would be great if they would respond.
The only thing that I can think of that might work is Darwin Streaming server, but no one has said anything about that working either.

Sep 2, 2011 12:07 PM in response to gaurakrsnaby StephenCCH,There also doesn't seem to be an server app for HTTP Streaming either. So in short, from the last two posts, it means 10.7 Server doesn't have any streaming capibilities at all.
10.7 Server is more crippled then I had originally thought.

Sep 2, 2011 12:45 PM in response to gaurakrsnaby Miggl,Shouldn't Podcast Library be able to stream for you? If you set up the Podcast service in Server Admin, can you add movies manually to the list of items to be streamed? I haven't tried it, just brainstorming.

Sep 10, 2011 10:23 PM in response to Migglby StephenCCH,I thought Podcast Library was for like, enabling downloading podcasts not actual streaming. Has anyone ever done streaming with Podcast Library?
The white paper on Podcast Producer for 10.6 says:
You might also consider binding systems to support custom publishing and delivery, such as the Leopard wiki server or Quicktime Streaming.
In 10.7's online manual it never mentions streaming, everything implies downloads not streaming. But then the manual doesn't say the word "download" either so I am not 100% certain.

Sep 29, 2011 12:09 PM in response to Peter G Fallonby StephenCCH,You have the wrong forum. This is for Lion Server, QuickTime Streaming Server and what to do in lite of QTSS being removed from Lion Server. I would suggest posting to the Safari area.

Oct 13, 2011 10:06 AM in response to gaurakrsnaby strickforce,I'm just running into this as well and wondering how to incorporate Quicktime streaming server with the Podcast server. Waiting for the podcast video to download before viewing it is no fun.

Oct 13, 2011 10:11 AM in response to strickforceby strickforce,Ah, I see that QTSS was removed from Lion Server. How convenient.\
Has anyone found alternatives or workarounds for actually streaming content from the Podcast wiki? Is this just not possible in Lion Server?

Jul 23, 2012 1:23 PM in response to strickforceby macbroadcast, hey folks,
i asked this question several times on the Darwin streaming server user list, without any response.
Why nobody creates a GUI for http streaming, so even not technical users have the chance todo Live streaming , like Quicktimebroadcaster > Darwin Streaming Server years ago.
I believe with the old hacktv code and some http streaming code this cant be rocket science or i am wrong ?
Thanks
Update:
Hacktv whitch is replaced by Whachtv and dissapeard aswell,if steve would know this, he would turn into his grave. So there is a kind of regression in live streaming. Whats aples idea behind this ? I was able to livestream years ago with QTB and DSS from my Minimac without any problems, i had even a DSS running on my debian machine and it worked seemslessly. After the iphone was on the market , apple changed the strategy and wanted to make people believe that podcasting could replace " livestreaming" *** !! I think i will move to free bsd.

Jul 23, 2012 2:41 PM in response to macbroadcastby StephenCCH,What I am not understanding is why Apple itself doesn't just add a basic UI to their own tools for HTTP Streaming. QuickTime Steaming reborn kind of thing. They have them all there (your second link) but there is no UI and it is complicated. I think between 10.6 and 10.7 Apple changed direction for everything and they just don't care about servers, streaming, power users etc. anymore.
Darwin streaming server doesn't work anymore either (according to what I have read), so there is no way to stream properly with a UI from Mac OS X 10.7 and up, including Server. If someone has more info to share on this subject, it would be most appreciated.
