Im having the same issue. I've never been able to get ical on my phone to sync to my notebook or vice versa. As far as I can tell I've checked all the boxes that I need to, and it still doesn't work.

icloud for snow leopard does work if you do the following:
Go to iCal preferences.
Set up new account.
Account Type: CalDAV
User Name: Your MobileMe / iCloud email address
Password: Your password for above
Server Address: p06-caldav.icloud.com

For what it is worth: I had a Genius Bar appt. for a separate issue with my Macbook after it totally threw a tantrum last pm: froze, lost bluetooth and access to all else: was fine this am: BIzARRE, however I also asked about the ical sync issue. I showed them how there is a disconnect between the phone and Macbooks..The tech looked to make sure all was properly checked in settings for both the phone and mac, and it was...He advised I call Applecare....in my spare time after spending my limited/non-existent extra time at the store.......My guess is

Thank you Silverbullettall. That solved my problem. My aging MacBook Pro couldn't be upgraded to Lion, so it would not sync with the calendar once it had been moved from MobilMe to iCloud.

I'm using iCloud and iCal on my Mac Pro and Macbook. On both computers I have my iCloud account enabled in iCal prefs. Also I have calendars checked in settings: iCloud. When I add events to the Macbook's iCal they don't get updated on the MP. Otherwise I think the sync is working.
Regarding silverbullettall' s last post--doest that go for Lion too?

Hi, I too am having great difficulty getting ical to connect to the iCloud server..
The server responded with an error.
The server did not recognize your user name or password for account “email@example.com.” Make sure you enter them correctly.
Access to “xxxxxx” in “Untitled” in account “firstname.lastname@example.org” is not permitted.
The server responded:
“HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden”
to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.
I tried changing the server to p06-caldav.icloud.com
the server path is put in automatically
port 8443 Use SSL checked.
Since mobleMe ended, so did iCal. I thought iCloud was supposed to pick up where mobile me left off.
i'm running 10.6.8 on our macs. Does this work with this software version?
