1. Figure out what Apple IDs you have.
2. Remove the emails you want to use from each of them. (Just make a temporary one if you have to)
3. Change them one by one back to what you want them to be.
Apple my be in the process of refreshing them on their end, so it may not work right away.
I basically used my MobileMe email with my original Apple ID, which messed it up, because I changed it and it still was registered with it. I removed the emails from both my original Apple ID and my iCloud account, then re-added the ones I wanted to use with each. You CANNOT use the same email with both at this point, though I imagine it may be something we can do in the future.
I simply switch everything over to the iCloud, with hopes we can merge in the future.
I hope that answers questions.

That does not work for me.
Since niether of my apple ID accounts have my email@example.com email assciated with them, changing the emails does not do anything to free it up.
I've done the "find Your AppleID" search and there are no AppleIDs assciated with my firstname.lastname@example.org email, yet it is "verified" somewhere...
For now I'm stuck with an old gmail account, which is not ideal, but not the end of the world.

Unfortunately, this will not work for me. I had chose the option to make my Apple ID and email address the same before removing the other associated email address that I use for MobileMe and now I can't even see that email address but it is still somehow associated with the Apple ID I don't want to use for iCloud. This really *****.

That's where I was. They are refreshing. Hold tight, they will free it up. I've been flipping out since the switch.

Actually, it just let me use the XXXX@mac.com address (that had not worked on repeated attempt, as lat as this morning) so they must be scrubbing the old account links now...

just to be clear.... you were able to use an email address that you deleted from an old apple ID on a new apple ID you are using for iCloud? that is great. unfortunately, mine is still not working. how long ago did you delete the email from the old apple ID it used to be associated with?

I had my original account email@example.com with the same for the email address. Changed it to my me.com email address & the ID just myname. Then I had a me.com address as my Apple ID which I switched over to iCloud. OK. I can't get into a bunch of things like Find My Friend and such, as I use firstname.lastname@example.org for everything and my original Apple ID for iTunes only. Well, I switched my original Apple ID to my old email which it was originally & verified it, but I still can't verify the email@example.com Apple ID, even though I removed the email address form my other account.
Maybe Apple's systems are all slow right now. I'll give it some time, but I can't log into a bunch of new Apple iOS 5 apps because of this mess.
PLEASE FIX, APPLE. Thank you.

OK. I was finally able to move my MobileMe account over to iCloud using the the email address that was associated with another Apple ID. They must have fix this. However, only my Calendar info was moved over. It did not move my Contacts over. Also, MobileMe on my MacBook Pro will not register my computer using the new AppleID. Things are looking a letter better, but still having issues.

Never mind on the MobileMe issue on my MacBook Pro. Forgot to upgrade to the latest OS X Lion 10.7.2. That should add the iCloud options in System Preferences.

Same problem. I can't set up Find Friends with my mobile me email that was a one point used as a secondary contact for my itunes account. Even though I deleated it from the itunes account it still says that email address is already verified. Same with my Messages app.

I'm having a similar problem. my account firstname.lastname@example.org never recived any Find My Friends, or iCloud notifications. So I changed the primary to email@example.com (deleted firstname.lastname@example.org) and things work. But now I can't add the email@example.com as a secondary email because it says "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID." Which is odd, because when I search for my Apple ID through the search page.
And enter all my data First Name, Last Name, Current email (firstname.lastname@example.org) I get "No Apple ID found", which makes some sense because I changed it to email@example.com, but since it's already verified for another account, I'm a bit annoyed, because my firstname.lastname@example.org account has not been hacked.
I hope this doesn't screw up all the aps and music I have.

I was having all sorts of Apple ID verification problems, but all of a sudden everything started working fine yesterday afternoon.
Seems like there are lots of people working overtime at Apple this week, i'm sure things will work out for everyone over the next couple days.

I have just migrated from my iMac to a MacBook Pro. In the course of doing this and trying to set up iCloud my various accounts with Apple are in a total tangle. I can't get in to my account in the iTunes store as somehow my name and/or password has been changed.I can't use my current email address to set up iCloud as, according to Apple it is already in use. I can't get into my account with Apple for similar reasons.
How do I contact Apple for help to sort this out?

Like many here, the problem I had on 10/12 was that I could not verify the email@example.com email address for my firstname.lastname@example.org Apple ID. I believe the reason is that my old Apple ID called simply xxx, which had email@example.com as the primary and verified email address, did not "unverify" firstname.lastname@example.org when I removed this email address from xxx Apple ID and replaced it was email@example.com.
I did the chat support and the person could not help me but claimed to "report the issue to a senior advisor". I lost hope.
On 10/13 I went into "manage Apple ID" and logged into the broken firstname.lastname@example.org Apple ID and noticed that the email@example.com was now verified and apps like Find My Friends started working! Somebody fixed it behind the scenes, becuase I never tried to verify again, it was verified magically.
It may be conincidence, but another thing I did was to rename my old xxx Apple ID to match the primary email address for that Apple ID, which is firstname.lastname@example.org. I've seen several apps and webpage advise that my Apple ID should be the same as my primary email. It's possible that when I made this change it fixed my email@example.com problem.
Hope that helps!
