Has anyone else experiencing the Iphone 4S getting hot? I still have my iPhone 4 and boy the new iPhone 4S gets very hot. I'm doing a restore to see if that will change the problem or else will have to go return it!

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.3

Mine gets way too hot to be normal. That's only after surfing the web for a few minutes.

ya mine does and like "PersonfromtheWest" it only takes a couple of minutes to start getting warmer than normal.

I feel like mine is getting hot and the battery is draining quickly without me really doing anything on it. SiRi's network was down for a while - I thought maybe searching for the network was draining it? Or perhaps having a lot of backgorund programs runningmakes it warm? Maybe that's just normal.

My white iPhone 4S works better now that I did the restore. It still warmer than the black iPhone 4 I had but better than when I bought it. So guys try that before you guys try to return the phone.

Mine gets hot very quickly. Is it common?

My iPhone 4S black gets warm around the back and the sim card slot area.

So guys, what is the problem here and what is the solution?

Any Apple techie support guy can please tell us whats going on here?

I've also found that my iPhone 4S seems to get hotter than it should. I'm on Sprint (which is horrible, by the way).

Hmm, in my experience the phone should be cool for normal use, warm when charging, and warm when under heavy use.

    A solution roundup:

    - If eating through battery (a sign of that is being warm without being charging), do a settings -> network -> reset

    - And / or, do a hard reset (hold down the power button for > 10 seconds, or hold power and home depending on the phone).

Even when my iphone 4s wasn't hot, it seemed to be eating through battery quickly.  I did both of the above and now it's running very well.

Yea mine was getting hot - i deleted iCloud - and it seems fine now - a lot of data being used when iCloud is active or inactive for some particular reason

I have spent 2 days workign through all this and finally found my issue. Not sure if it applies to everyone but the wifi keeps dropping and reconnecting. I was losing 1% battery every 5 minutes or so. I set up mine and my wife's 4s exactly the same. She went to work and had 100% even after playing music on the way in and I had 90%. This was after 40 minutes. I recharged mine to 100% turned my wifi off and now after over an hour I still have 100%. I work from home so I always leave wifi on so I don't use any of my cellular data plan. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue but I am on hold with apple support and will le tyou know if I get any sort of answer.

But I would definitely say to turn you wifi off and see how your battery works. I also turned off the time zone, and any location services I wasn't using but my mail is on and siri is on as well as all my notifications.

If you haven't tried the network -> reset, I suggest you do. Doesn't hurt anything, and resets the network settings which might be causing your wifi problems.

Did that 3 times and it didn't work. Can watch the wifi bounce between connected and not connected every couple minutes.

Hmm, did you try the hard reset too? (Not just a reboot.)

You could try a full restore as well.

If not solved, sounds like a hardware problem. Possibly go to an apple store, try the wifi there. If it's the same problem bring it to the genius bar - might need a hardware swap.
