Jun 12, 2011 12:24 AM in response to nixamby hextacy,Just throwing in my two cents....... One of the replies above suggested signing out of the app store to prevent anyone from seeing purchased apps. THIS WORKS!. When someone, whom you may have handed your device to, perhaps a family member, clicks on the purchased apps menu, it asks for an apple ID and password. Now this of course doesn't solve the issue with other devices unless you sign out on those units too. For those that need a little push, here's a quick map. Select Settings> then scroll down to Store> (it doesn't actually say "app store", just "store", click that menu> then click the Apple ID button at the bottom> then SIGN OUT.
That's it! If you now go to the app store, click on Updates, then click on Purchased, you will be greeted with a request for Apple ID and Password. Access denied for prying eyes. Hope this helps until iCloud is launched and allows us to manage our accounts.

Jun 24, 2011 9:47 PM in response to hextacyby SlyBuck,Thanks for the tip. It works but is a pain. And once you enter your userID/pw again to download updates or for an in app purchase, my iphone caches the credentials again and I have to go back to Settings and repeat the process again. I'm not sure what apple saw as the benefit to it's customers here. When I delete an app from my phone I don't want to see it again in any history. This 'feature' stinks!

Aug 7, 2011 4:13 AM in response to nixamby joekr_shinobi,I believe you can go into iTunes and right click to permanently delete any app from both your iTunes and iOS device history. Should be able to do it from mobile too though. ***** when you can't.

Aug 7, 2011 12:11 PM in response to Allan Sampsonby joekr_shinobi,:/ It only deletes them from iTunes...but that might fix the shared account problem. Just not the sharing an iOS device problem. This is such an annoying problem. Apple really needs to fix this.

Sep 11, 2011 11:32 PM in response to nixamby Dual 3.5 G6,I think everyone here should make a pact to stop purchasing anything else from the Apple Store until Apple offers a permanently-remove option on the apps we chose to delete from the purchased history.
This is the only option we customers have with Apple, unless some gracious law firm wishes to start a class-action lawsuit against Apple for not allowing its customers to delete historical purchases.

Sep 12, 2011 5:12 AM in response to Dual 3.5 G6by Meg St._Clair,Why would I do that? I want Apple to keep accurate records of my purchases.

Sep 12, 2011 8:05 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby Dual 3.5 G6,Here Meg, I'll help you with the big words:

Sep 24, 2011 9:04 AM in response to nixamby TooCurious,I downloaded apps I did not anyone to see. (very curious about social dating apps, hetro and bi.) I wanted to see if any one I knew was "cruising" in my area. I read a few solutions which helped me. Signing out helped , then I noticed you could make a new account instead on signing in again. So I made a new account and signed in.
Under "Purchased" ("All" and "Not on this iPhone") were both empty. That is when I realized that the "Purchased" Apps were on the Web site not actual stored on your iPhone . Hope this helps.

Oct 16, 2011 9:52 PM in response to nixamby ChicCanadian,I find it annoying, too! I don't have any embarassing apps (if anyone from my grandmother to a random stranger on the street wants to look at my app history, that's ok!) BUT I don't like having to scroll through all the rubbish I deleted from my phone to find apps I actually liked. I wish I could delete apps I no longer like from the list.

Oct 17, 2011 11:39 AM in response to ChicCanadianby deggie,Then Hide them as described above and when you scroll through the list they won't be there.

Oct 17, 2011 12:01 PM in response to mohamkassamby SlyBuck,Excellent. Not completely gone, but good enough I guess. Thanks, was this an iOS 5 fix? I'm pretty certain I tried this with iOs4x
