Q: iTunes Store won't open.

So I click the iTunes store tab, and the loading bar gets about almost halfway through...then it stops.  Then the Apple logo appears where the loading bar was, as if iTunes was idle.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the iTunes programs, to no avail.  Is this happening to others?  Can it be fixed?

iPod nano, Windows Vista

I updated two of three computers in the house and have the exact same problem on those machines you are having. I have followed all the suggestions from Apple and still am not able to do anything. I also can not do anything with mobile me or Safari. It's weird. It's like a virus blosking anything apple from the apple software. I can access apple from another web browser but not from there oen software.

    This worked for me.

    CORRECT SOLUTION (by AppleTeam )

1- Uninstall the old version of itunes you have (or just uninstall iTunes if you are already running 10.4.0.80

    2- Uninstall Quicktime also

    3- Uninstall Apple software update

4- Uninstall Apple mobile device support

    5- Uninstall Bonjour

    6- Uninstall Apple application support

(I would shutdown wait 20 seconds then fire up the computer at this point and then come back and install itunes)

    7- Reinstall iTunes 10.4.0.80

Apple Tech said you HAVE to uninstall in this order. After I did this, the App Store started working correctly.

Dr JJS - that worked for me during the last upgrade but hasn't this time round. I've tried it twice to no avail.

Any further pointers will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Same as toots99 has said. I had to do this the last time I upgraded iTunes, and it worked like a charm. Then with having to upgrade it again, same problem, and this time it doesn't work.

Rather than have us go through some multi-part must-do-in-this-order "fix" ... shouldn't Apple just work out the bugs in their software? If multiple people are having the problem it seems more like it's something on their end than ours.

I'm having the exact same problem.  I've tried everything (i think).  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, i've turned off the firewall, i've changed the lan settings . . . nothing is working.  I have the new iPhone but haven't turned it on or connected it in fear of having a problem.

yea, same here, that fixed it once for me 2-3 months ago. for about a month now i don't have access to itunes store. Bar fills up halfway, bar disappears after 20 seconds, blank itunes store page remains. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, i've tried shutting off antivirus(AVG) and windows firewall. Nothing.

I posted this in another post but wanted to make sure you get it . . this worked like a charm!

    1. Quit itunes

    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)

    3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset

    4. press ENTER

    5. Reboot your machine

    6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync

    7. Good luck

You don't need to "run as Administrator".  Just run as you (the owner).  Let me know if this worked

Jeremy, have you shut down your PC and restarted it? have you shut down itunes and restarted it? does the store still work after several shutdowns and restarts? have you tried syncing? transfering purchases? download apps from the app store on the PC itunes store? you know, normal everyday functions you would do in regards to itunes, the store and the iphone/ipod? Let us know the results. Thanks.

Finally got around to trying this, and it worked for me as well! Thank you. This is much easier than the "help" I got when I contacted Apple directly.

toots, when you did the "run as X" thing... did you uncheck the box below it that prevents unauthorized access to your computer? I found that when I left the box checked, the command prompt didn't work and I was denied access. With the box deselected, it worked without a hitch. When you reboot your computer, that box will automatically be checked again (I double checked it just to be sure).

inmediasres .... have you shutdown and restarted your PC? have you tried all the normal everyday tasks and functions related to itunes and the store? Syncing, transfering purchases, update apps, downloading of apps etc.....

Have you tried opening up other programs and using them? Does EVERYTHING seem to be working perfectly? After a few days report back as to how things are working in regards to the "netsh winsock reset" solution. Keep us updated please. Thanks.
